I do NOT understand all this talk about a higher gear ratio!
Warpo (@warp9.9) says he doesn't even use his 5th gear!
My stocker pulls better and darn near more mph in 4th that in 5th!
I need MORE POWER to make full use of my 5th gear!

I have enough torque to make use of the 5th gear in my touring model.

Bull to be truthful I have pulled hard in fifth gear but your right when you shift into fourth at 150 mph you do not get much use out of fifth gear until about 185 mph.

Not likely where top speed is concerned.
JMHO . . .

Can't argue cause I never tried it. The bike has a windshield and bags, not really a good top end bike. It does pull strong and smooth to 100mph and would sit there all day easily. I've ridden it at that speed a few miles at a time several times. I live in Vegas and when you leave town in any direction theres some pretty open highway. It feels good right there, its probably around 4000 rpms which is ok. but it feels like it would pull it just fine at about 800 rpms less. Maybe I'm used to the Boss Hoss which loafs along at a 100 mph at 3000 rpms.

The Touring engine is the same but runs a different tune and Triumph can retune both models to produce more HP and TRQ and add a six speed gearbox

I dont need a higher 5th gear ratio or a sixth gear as I can cruise well over any speed limit and I still havnt run the bike up to top speed as it never stops accelerating in high gear it just keeps on climbing we need to get to one of the LSR asphalt tracks and see how fast a modded rocket can run.

With shield, bags and big cross country load on PLUS my 250+,
Mine hits only around 135mph (GPS) in 4th or 5th gear.
I need more horsies to get 5th up to 7K RPM.

Thats what Im saying gearing the bike higher will not help the performance cruising at 100 mph is nothing you want to do as you will run into all sorts of trouble with the law and traveling at that speed there is too much wind resistance that always hurts gas mileage and is hard on tires and the rider so whats the point its a no win situation and your just looking for trouble and you dont want to hit any wildlife at that speed YIKES

Ive raced sportbikes and beat them in 4th gear and then I drop into 5th and disappear in front of them so why do I need any higher gearing and I certainly dont want a chain or belt drive. And Im driving a comfy cruiser and getting 40+ mpg on regular gas Im good dont need to change anything except I could use a fairing for those high speed runs . And as it is the sportbike guys hate the modified rockets they all think they are able to beat everything they encounter so getting beat buy a big cruiser really blows their minds.
