I actually grew up wearing no helmet unless I was racing dirt bikes. I don't like helmets, instead I leave it to God and my own abilities. I know the odds are better with a helmet if you get in a wreck but its still the luck of the draw. I think if someone wants to wear one they should wear one. I don't think there should be any laws about it. I wear a little POS helmet because of the law, it shouldn't be forced on me. I ride a Rocket and two V8's, if I was really concerned about the risks I'd sell them and get into collecting stamps.

YES Indian LARRY said the same thing about wearing a real helmet Ive ruined several helmets over the years Racing and Crashing and they do their job and I was lucky to have good helmets that prevented any injury even though the helmets where badly damaged if I have to wear a helmet I will wear a real one not a $10 POS I like wearing a helmet anyway its much more comfy when riding the fast monsters I ride

Indian Larry was doing a stunt when he died. He was pushing the envelope and my OPINION is he should have worn one but that doesn't mean he still would be alive, you don't know that and either do I. I lost two good friends in the last three years that were wearing real expensive good helmets. One of them died when the bikes mirror stem went between the helmet and the back of his head, it cut the cord that leads to your brain and nothing works after that. The other guy went down on a dirt bike at not a very high speed and his head was fine but his neck broke. I said that if I was racing I'd wear one but if we didn't have a law here in Nevada I wouldn't wear one, should be my choice. You probably should wear one riding the "fast monsters you ride". Since I guess I don't ride a "fast monster" little POS that keeps me from getting a ticket seems good enough. If the helmet makes everything so safe maybe we should have a law that car drivers also wear them. No choice, just wear em cause I think you should and I can get an expert to agree.

WE have to wear seat belts here also but I dont wear phony ones. not helmet law here but I will wear a helmet anyway and there are all those laws that those silly lawmakers come up with how do you get around all of them ? . Ive had some crazy crashes and hit my head almost everytime so Im convinced I will always wear a helmet and like I said I dont like riding without one as its uncomfortable Indian larry died after hitting his head he was standing up on the seat of his bike and slipped off hitting his head He was always flapping his jaws about not wanting to wear a helmet I listened to one of his rants in DAYTONA during bike week . he was dead not long after that

i'm proud of you. You seem to know pretty much everything, its just to bad that jaw flappin Indian Larry didn't know you, he probably would have been alive today plus he would have more friends then ever once he learned about his personality defect.

OH well too late DAVE

Well guys, whether there are laws in place or not, wearing a helmet or deciding what type of helmet to wear still comes down to being an individual choice. Some people make better or more intelligent choices regarding themselves or their property than others. That said, after a certain point, we should leave the subject at hand right there because it serves no purpose trying to change the minds of any or all others who do not agree with our own choices. I don't respect a lot of choices that other people make and they may not agree with mine. After such a conclusion is reached, one can only ask of themselves, "So what?", and we should just move along to the next subject/conundrum.

SO you want to gear the rocket higher so it turns slower you cant cruise at 90 mph + without worrying about getting locked up so whats the point

I understand but you can easily cruise higher than 80 as it is But a 6th gear overdrive would lower the rpm if thats what you would like as the Rocket will pull the gearing no problem Now all we have to do is convince TRIUMPH as Ive had this conversation with them and they told me the Rocket has higher gearing than a 6 speed Harley

I'm not sure what Triumph means when they say the Rocket has higher gearing than a 6 speed Harley...I know my buddy's Road Glide turns 3K RPM in 6th at 80 MPH, while my Rocket turns about 3100 in 5th...maybe they mean the Rocket's 5th gear is geared higher than Harley's 5th gear?

One of the selling points for me was that the bike did not have a bunch of gadgets and toys to play with or brag about. It did come with one hell of a motor. Traction control, ride by wire, and riding modes, next thing would be to have somebody else ride it while you watch. No thank you. Yes a 2500 would be nice. More engine more power. Just looking at a Rocket pretty much says it all. one big bike, one big motor. That is about all you get. For some of us that is all we need. The Rocket X we bought back in late Sept. has 10,562 miles on it to date. Just flat out love the bike the way it is.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Agreed.
