New Shield Plastic - Any Recommendations?

Clearview make a quality screen. Very happy with mine.

I ordered a Clearview and added just one inch in height and one half an inch on each side to the width. I ordered the top to have the slight recurve as they say it raises the wind about two more inches. I also ordered the vent. I like the stock Triumph windshield but I wanted the vent and the recurve, I added the inch in height but I don't think I really needed it. It takes about a month or more to get it.

Have you received your Clearview? If so, how do you like it? Any concerns? And can I ask you - how tall are you and which saddle are you using? Thanks for any info you can provide.

After 7 years and 35K miles - my shield has developed considerable "spider-webbing" and 2-3 actual small (1 - 1 1/2 inch long) cracks. So - it's time for a replacement blade.

I'm trying to decide between the Cee Bailey and the Clearview windshields. The Clearview has a nice additional feature in the adjustable vent - but other than that they appear to be pretty identical. Clearview is slightly more expensive. However, I can get the Clearview 4" wider than stock if I want to (actually - I have to do this if I want to get the adjustable vent).

So - any recommendations? Anyone have any experience with either of these products? Let me know what you think.

I have to disagree with several members on these two windshields. I have had four of the Cee Bailey windshields on several of my bikes and I have only purchased one Clearview. The Cee Bailey is by far a better product in my opinion. The Clearview was not nearly as heavy as the Cee Bailey. I will never buy a Clearview again. It did not perform as well either....because of its thickness.... it actually flexed in the wind at higher speeds. The Clearview may offer more options, but if you want quality...my vote is for the Cee Bailey.

I'm a little stumped by this response. According to their respective web sites - both shields are made from .187 acrylic material. The only difference is that the Cee Bailey says that it is: "Manufactured from .187 aircraft grade acrylic", while the Clearview says it is made of "Premium High Impact Acrylic Blend Material", and that [the] 3/16″ (.187) Thick Material is More Rigid than the Stock Shield. I'm stumped, unless "aircraft grade" material is more rigid that the same thickness of "acrylic blend" material. Perhaps having the Clearview vent installed compromises the structural rigidity of the Clearview shield.

In any case, both have their proponents here - so my choice is more difficult than ever.

I have not got mine yet but will post my two cents worth when I do. I am only adding a half inch to each side but was able to order the vent. I see someone said that the windshield had to be four inches to have the vent installed but nobody has told me that from the factory. I am six feet tall and weigh 205 lbs. I have the Triumph Gel Seat on mine. I am actually happy with the stock touring model windshield but maybe I will even like the Clearshield better. IF NOT I'LL GO BACK TO STOCK.

I am 6' and have a 19" clearview with the 4" added width, recurve at the top, and the center vent. I could not be happier with it!!

With the stock shield the wind caught me right in the forehead and was really annoying. With the new shield the air is directed around and over me, and it is like riding in a bubble.

The vent has two benefits
1. Opening the vent to one of the five positions you can direct a comfortable cool stream of air right where you want it

2. Even just opening the vent to the first position you notice a definite improvement in front end handling, especially at high speeds. Any buffeting disappears by adjusting the opening

With 2 years and 8000 miles on this shild it still looks brand new.

Only thing I would do different is go to the 21" height.

I thought the materials were different on mine. Also, Cee Bailey specifies really low torque on the bolts to mount the shield. I had to buy a micro torque wrench. But it doesn't matter. Get the one with the features and size you want at the best price.

That is strange. I bought the Clearview for my Corbin fairing as I wanted to try the recurve at the top. All I can say is it was not as heavy as my current Cee Bailey and it flexed downward about an inch or more hitting 65-70 mph. Maybe a standard windscreen is different. Ask some Clearview users to actually micrometer the thickness of their windshield as I would be interested to know.
