What Phil said about the different road surfaces is very true even here in Auss it varies and then you also have to take in to account how the rider rides Two of my riding Buddies get much better wear then I do but they are more sedate when taking of and are generally smoother on the throttle it does not make them slower riser ... far from it in fact one of them is an ex copper and is quite quick and smooth thru corners

@TriumPhil
Not a 130 front on a Roadster, Amigo!

Steve, you absolutely can run the 130 on a roadster, but that will override the ABS braking, which is OK-fine by me as I like to feel and control my brakes on a motorcycle rather than have a computer control them for me.

As far as I'm concerned a linked-brake system, as I had on my VTX 1800s is the best of both worlds for me. At the end of the day it's a chocolate or vanilla-type choice.

I dunno, a bike this heavy can seriously use some ABS. I wouldn't voluntarily do something that disables it unless it was absolutely necessary which in this case it isn't. ABS doesn't affect your braking at all except when the **** hits the fan and you have to panic-brake, and then it quietly proceeds to save your life. Not getting ABS is a major regret I have about mine, but it was a great deal and holding out for ABS would have cost me many thousands more.

Like I said, croft, it's a matter of personal taste/comfort, not a matter of my advocating for anyone else's choice either way, but certainly making my choice clear and explaining the reason for my preference.

NEGATIVE!
Phil, I'm here to state that I did it and in doing so, it alone reduced my ground clearance and lean angle in front. Dragging a solid mounted peg rail on the pavement is much more serious a threat than dragging a folding peg IMHO.
Would you like me to photo the drag marks left on the front of my peg rail for illustration?
Do NOT use a 130 on the front of a Roadster!

Yep, I respect your right to make that decision, but I still disagree with your analysis. Essentially, the one thing ABS won't let you do is lock your brakes, otherwise it's exactly like riding without ABS. Since I can't think of a single reason to want to lock your brakes on the road but plenty of reasons to want to avoid it especially in a panic/crisis situation where a human operator is prone to that sort of thing, your preference isn't logical. But as I said, you certainly have a right to make whatever personal decisions you choose, just stating what I personally believe to make the most sense and what my own opinion on the topic is.

I now have 7,900 Miles on my OEM Mets. The back tire is holding up pretty well with only slight difference as it rolls from straight up to sides.

However, the front tire is showing significant wear just off of center. Inflation is correct but I seem to be having a reverse 'chicken strip' going on here where the center strip is still raised and the beginning of the sides is being worn down. I rechecked the inflation and that is not the issue so maybe I am riding just enough on the left and right lean to cause this extra wear. As you can see, it does not go the full width of the side of the tire.

just my opinion. i think that the faster you stop the more cupping you get.
mine seemed to be doing that so i now ride up to the lights a little slower and it seem to not cup so bad.

Good idea Herman. I do use the front brakes for their intended purpose often whether that is for stops or corners. In any case I will be changing tires soon.

My Marathons also cause a lot of front-end shake if I let go of the bars, so cupping. But come hell or high water, I will get my Cobra whitewalls if it's the last thing I do haha, and at this rate it may well be. :laugh:
