New Brake Recall!

Hey everyone, there is a new brake recall here in the US (hopefully everywhere) for the rear brake issue many of us have experienced. They are replacing the rear brake master cylinder with a new, larger one. Apparently the NHTSA started investigating this in March of 23. I complained to them in January of this year and they took my bike for 2 months, so maybe I helped get this going lol. This is what the recall says when I enter my VIN:

Summary A small number of motorcycles within the affected VIN range that have been parked or stored for long periods of time may demonstrate noticeably increased rear brake pedal travel than that previously experienced prior to storage. In the event of an affected motorcycle being stored, the rear brake pedal must be depressed over a greater distance than prior to storage before the brake engages. A small number of motorcycles that are used regularly may also demonstrate smaller increases in brake pedal travel. Once engaged, rear brake performance is unaffected. Note: Front brakes are not affected and will remain fully functional.

Safety Risk On unrepaired affected motorcycles, where pre-ride safety checks have not been completed, this increased pedal travel can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy Triumph Motorcycles Ltd has authorized your dealer to replace the Rear Brake Master Cylinder, free of charge to you including parts and labor.
Thanks for the post, i just checked, its available in Australia as well and mine is on the list for recall! YAY, this will be the 5th time its been in for rear brakes issues, and great timing as well as my rear brake feels like a wet sponge again...grrrrrrrrr. Hopefully this is the last visit for this **** rear brake issue...

You definitely should not have been charged for remedying an ongoing known issue. My bike is out of warranty and the dealer has said they will continue to rectify the rear brake issues.

Saying that, for the other Aussies out there, I reached out to my dealer yesterday, and while they hadn't heard about the recall, they checked my bike in the Triumph database and it now has a recall notice attached to it so they are ordering parts to get it done. So Triumph Aus has acted fairly swiftly it would seem. If you want to be one of the first cabs off the rank before we have a sudden parts shortage worldwide for the new master cylinder kit, reach out rather than wait for your letter is my advice.
I checked the recall site last week and wasn't on it. (Australia).
Checked again today, because of a FB post by another Aussie, and I'm on the list. Rang Brisans and booked in for next Friday.
I hit them up for a loaner bike, whilst I was at it. He mumbled for a bit and then agreed. I didn't want to spend my day hanging around waiting.

Ooops. Spoke too soon. Brisans just called back and parts aren't available in Australia yet. 🤦
Will have to wait for Triumph supply chain and they will get back to me. I won't hold my breath.

I got the email from Triumph directly just this morning, so it's good and underway now...

Just got my recall email today too.
Haven't had a problem with the rear brake since the early days when it needed to be re-bled after going soft suddenly... ahem

Just returned from the dealer. They got the part in within days and with an appointment just a week later they had it in a little over an hour. later. He mentioned another recall that they did - it's the battery fuse- it's been upped to a 10 amp, from 7.5, and a new sticker placed over the old one showing the correct fuse sizes. This place just started selling and servicing Triumphs in March and is about one hour from my house.

Good timing on the heads up, i'm in the recall and my bike is already at the stealership waiting on parts from a car hitting me back in September, so i guess i'll be waiting a little longer to get it back since they are going to have to order the parts for this as well. it put a crimp in the end of my riding season, but at least i still had the big blue one to play on, when it would decide to run somewhat correctly, that one has been an electrical nightmare this year especially with all of the relays, but it seems to be all sorted out now, but i still miss using the other one.
