NEED NEW TYRES OR TIRES

Please keep us posted on your experience with the Michelin, Captain! Keep the inflation properly maintained and you can expect to get at least 20% more life than you did with the Metz.;)

Good point on inflation pressure! I am using 38 front, 40 rear, checked before each ride. All miles to date have been solo with luggage. If I can persuade my wife to ride with me I'll increase the pressures by 2psi both ends. Does that sound about right?

I should mention that I have no ABS warning light with the 140/75 front - 240/55 rear combination.

I like 40 front and 42 rear cold , the pressure does increase when tyres get hot . I was amazed by how much when i was on the Indian in the USA as it had tyre pressure on the display and you could see it change as you got going on the road .

#2 definitely does not apply to pre-Roadstar models, though. Trust me on that!

Do you have some measurements or what?
Would be nice to know the distance to pavement from the lowest part of your front peg rail with your 130 front tire.
I shall measure the same on my R3R with my 140 front tire.

The 150/70 is also VERY good - so my conjecture is that it has as much to do with rolling radius as width. A 150/70 is the same radius as a 140/75. It's just maths/physics.

Gray Beard, Pray tell who makes a 150/70R17 front tire?

Steve, my bike is presently under repair at a dealership some 80 miles from here. Prolly won't have it back for another 2-4 weeks, so I can't take those measurements for ya' until it returns to my place.

What I can tell ya' is that I ride the wheels off of my Standard, mostly on backroad twisties and hilly roads, that within 30 days of slapping new tires on her, I've never had a hint of chicken strips on any tires that I've used on my R3 and that if it was humanly possible to drag or snag parts that could do me bodily harm, I'd likely not be here on this earth with all you fine Captains.;):laugh:

You guys get way too technical here, would you like the measurements in inches or centimeters?:D
