Here's a properly sized merge collector and muffler for an SC R3 with 267 to 300 RWHP. If the workmanship looks FN perfect, it's because it was made for me by Burns Stainless of Predator fame. After listening to the reverse cone megaphones at ARC, I decided they were called "Earsplitters" for good reason. Burns used their X-Design software to build this collector muffler to have negligible HP loss compared to a reverse cone meg. Now Doug at ARC will cut and weld the equal length, stepped primary tubes.

I have to say that the knife edge merge inside the collector is the finest I have ever seen. It really makes the merge collector in a set of Jardines look like Chinese crap.

I'll be interested to see the equal length headers coz I like the Preds but they won't fit with the TTS rear sets. I doubt any three tube system will fit with the rear sets, I may have to sell them and get the Motoplan ones which come up from the footrest rail fixing point.

I know three tubes will work with my rear-rear sets, 'cause that's how we be a-building them. ;)

I've been asked by another member if my builder could duplicate my exhaust for his SC R3. This is not really practical because of the difference between our bikes' due to my custom made cams for the supercharger. The cam specs are very important in sizing the exhaust. Even if one used the same cams, you must have the exhaust parts built by 2 different companies... one in California, and the other in West Virginia. These places are 2000 miles apart. Also if you look closely at my bike, you would have to duplicate the rear-rear sets that I use because this is where the muffler "hangs" for mounting. I custom made these myself. Unless you used a pattern (which I don't have), your mounting will be different. My header maker only does custom fit work, on the bike. Otherwise he says things won't fit properly, and the customer will be angry.

Sorry to give you this bad news, but a custom exhaust is very expensive, and you really want it to be correct for your bike. One could order the collector and muffler from Burns in California (matched to your cams) and they will give you the correct stepped tube diameters and lengths from their X-Design software at no extra charge. Then I think it best to find someone in your area that can cut and weld the "U-Bend" tubing for your headers. Also, I almost forgot... you must order the special exhaust port adapters from Neville Lush Racing in Australia! It's really not such a simple deal, is it?

H,
I was thinking of the three tubes passing where Richard's rear sets hang from, the pegs would end up about four inches further out if the pipes passed behind them. Now I've seen the route yours are taking this wouldn't be an issue, but as always nothing is as simple as I thought it would be.
I think I'll save up for the CF wheels first, much simpler, which is about my level. ;)

hombre, jan is curious about sound level . since you had a supertrapp on the bike let us know the difference in level with the burns muffler compared to the supertrapp.
