Stock muffler alteration

Just my 2 bobs worth, in 50od years of "tinkering:" with evil intent with various exhaust systems on motor cycles ,cars , hot rods ,and trucks I have rarely achieved a satisfactory result in sound or performance gains, exhaust design is a black art better left to the experts "homemade " exhausts and butchered stock systems almost always look and sound less than nice ,I reckon its better to save your pennies and then get a professional system or just do the Tors and cat box delete pipe and keep the stock system to refit at a later date , if required

Thanks again to all. My update is that I have found a clean used set of TORS on the world famous online auction site and dropped $225 US for them including shipping to my US address. I guess I can check another optional accessory off my want list. If I am unhappy with the sound I will now have two sets of pipes to choose from to modify in the future.

The R3T presented WITH the stock mufflers opened up and a 38mm core in each side. It had a RAMAIR filter and as shown did 100hp pretty much, as the tune was stock for a touring. After a tune it did 145hp. The guy did his mufflers himself. They looked stock.

I am very skilled at the trades of metalworking and welding. Certified tig welder (military aircraft) current job. Have spent a lot of time working in metal working as a machinist and fabricator.

Followed by "Sweet. I am a **** good welder and fabricator. Never claimed to be a machinist"

You should make up your mind!

YES WOULD BE NICE IF MY MAN SONNY WOULD MAKE A SET OF PIPES SINCE HES THE BEST
Since none of you all sign my paycheck, guess where you can take your comments and stuff it. Yes have worked as a machinist/welder at various jobs. It is a feather in your hat when you can fabricate the part, weld it and be capable of doing any required machining. Knowledge and capabilities just means higher pay. Do I consider myself a machinist by trade? NO. By far a much better welder. By the way asked the lead machinist at work the other day about what happened to cork screw dick? He had no idea of what I was talking about. Just gave me a blank look. Figured since he has been a Machinist for very long time in the aircraft industry's he would have heard the question before. Imfasttoo when you can match my hourly pay at work, I will be more than happy to weld up a set of pipes for you. Due to the nature of the work we are not even allowed to wire brush are welds must less grind prior to dye penetration. F.A.A. and military regulations. I take a lot of pride in what i do for a living and find some of the above comments not only silly but very ego driven as such that maybe you have to one up the next guy just to make yourself feel better. I do that very simply by pointing and saying yea I MADE THAT.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll: PERIOD.
