Stock muffler alteration

Slip ons? Try a full system Vance and Hines. IMG_0061.JPG I believe what goes in must come out. just recently talked to paul and purchased FULL SYSTEM EXHAUST for the ROCKET X. Not cheap but believe he is one of the best when it comes to exhaust systems for the ROCKET. I am very skilled at the trades of metalworking and welding. Certified tig welder (military aircraft) current job. Have spent a lot of time working in metal working as a machinist and fabricator. Would not even consider taking a stock system and modify it. The Harley rides at 125 ponies at 116 pounds of torque at the back wheel. (lots of other Mods) The Rocket Is still new to me. After and only after doing a lot of research on the ends and outs of this wonderful bike have decided to do some mods. Ramair and Pauls system is just the start. Just the presents of the Rocket even stock eliminates it as a sleeper. Horsepower never comes cheap.

Ok if you really were/are a machinist then what happened to cork screw Dick?

What kind of numbers did you get after intake and exhaust?
Still waiting on parts. Ramair will show up soon. The Exhaust is about ten weeks out. Paul is busy. Have a shop in Oklahoma City that knows tune Ecu and the Rocket. Independant shop now but use to be a Truimph dealership. They have a very skilled mechanic that can run a good dyno. Plan on installing everything myself when it shows up and downloading a tune from Hanso. Then take it to these folks and fine tune. Not cheap but did a lot of work for me on a bonneville back in 2005 that produced a bike from hell. Really looking forward to it. There is a machine shop there in Oklahoma City that specializes in Triumphs. Will more than likely end up taking her to them about cams and valves. They really did some nice work on the bonneville and have talked to them about the Rocket. They act like a kid in a candy store when I told them about the Rocket X. After 25,500 miles we are ready to open here up a bit. Have no Idea about the numbers when it is all said and done but have a gut feeling it should be very impressive. These guys live it and #hit Triumphs.

Looking forward to it. I know Paul's system looks great, but I've always been curious how the power compares to the other systems.

Been modify and working on bikes for a bit. Bought the Rocket after a couple of years of research. Yes I am one agront ass. Then again I do not blow smoke. Pretty **** good at what I do. Sorry to have pissed in your wheaties. really have a passion for motorcycles. Know my limitations and my abilities. In the present and past have had the ability to make it happen. It is one thing to take a bike to a known company and come out with something special. It is another to take and organize several different companies to work on the same bike and come out with something that is very special. So take it as you want warp 9.9. cork it while i pass you on your Carpenter special.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Dude it was a machinist then what you question not a rocket or hardley question.
As for having a bike built I would not know as I did my TTS bike long before Carpenter came out with theirs 40,000 miles before when it seemed like everyone was breaking cranks. Sure I have a bike that bob put together for someone else. What are you type of guy that would not by a bike with more horse power then stock and its nice no blower bike but nice. Anyway the question was a machinist question that a machinist could answer and I'm not talking some type of cycle start monkey want to be machine operator!!! Anyway thanks for your answer.

Sweet. I am a **** good welder and fabricator. Never claimed to be a machinist but have run a few mills and lathes at work. All manual no CNC. My specialty is not as a machinist but insults are insults. No disrespect intended.

Perhaps it has been done but I can't seem to find it today so I ask, how many have taken their stock pipes and altered them and what might the pros and cons be? I'm considering opening my R3T stock pipes, removing the cats and baffles and giving it a shot at installing an aftermarket baffle to get the sound I prefer if I can. Any thoughts?
I gutted my stock pipes and added a 2" to 4" cone 18" long on the inside. Ruined the chrome but powder coated them black anyway. It was so loud I couldn't ride without earplugs. Made some baffles and got noise under control with a decent sound. I like the sound and have had many compliments. I also got what I considered a decent power gain. With exhaust and ramair intake it produced 133 hp and 155 torque if I remember correctly. As all the others have stated, it's very labor intensive and if you are trying to save chrome I would say it's darn near impossible.
But if you attempt it don't forget to share the pictures and the story. Good Luck.

Doing the math and keeping it at a low estimate figuring with the Ramair and a good tuned around 20% over stock. We shall find out .
