Performed this procedure this weekend. Thanks to everyone for the detailed steps and advice. I'd purchased the studs ahead of time and I'm glad I did because all 4 of mine backed out and I damaged the studs gripping them in my vice to get the nuts off. For those that are curious about the thread type on the end you need to lock 2 nuts together for torquing in the new studs, it's M12 1.25 thread pitch (extra fine). My ace hardware had them and torquing the new studs in went easily enough with them. I got the bevel box back on without any swearing. Took about 5 minutes of wrangling but it slid into place.

2 things I didn't see mentioned in this thread:

Which direction should the spring be installed? It's got one end that's painted and has a tighter wind. I put that end into the axle shaft. Is there a right/wrong here?

How much moly paste should you apply? I bought the honda stuff mentioned above off amazon. The directions on the tube said to basically put it on and wipe it off with a cloth producing a pretty fine coating. Anybody with more specific advice here?

I think I included info about the two nuts and thread pitch. You did better than me (or lucky) working solo and getting the final drive on that easily

I don't think it matters which way the spring goes, but someone else may have a more educated opinion. Seems the force is the same either way.

I would not be sparse with that lube. It dries out quickly (looks like rust) and extra might just be a bit of a mess at most. Too little, and you have a problem in the making. I re-lube every 4K miles with rear tire change, but may skip once in a while. 8K max.

i ordered
M12 1.25 thread pitch (extra fine)
from ebay taiwan, as I USA sellers shipping to canada is crazy and they lost the package so they are resending it :(

I found them at Lowes, and Menards.
I got those nuts at my local Ace Hardware store.
I tried looking around nearby hardware tools chains, none had it,
Canadiantire sucks as usual
princessauto, they didnt have it too
homedepot Canada which is stripped down version of USA homedepot didnt have it as well.
Lowes Canada which is also stripped down version of USA Lowes didnt have it as well.

Tried looking online tools suppliers within Canada, they also didnt have it, and those who have it are selling a pack of 1000 or 100 bolts. priced twice as usa suppliers.
Tried USA suppliers online but their shipping now a days is pretty much unaffordable.

Most of the time when I am looking for something, I have same experience as above.

Welcome to Trudeau's "Build Back Better" world.

Are you kidding me, you are paying $400 Canadian a month for bike insurance?
yes sir, here is the story,

75% of companies wont touch above 999 cc
rest 15% wont touch above 2000cc
rest 5% wont touch above 2300cc
remaining companies gave me rates and 400 was cheapest

Welcome to Canada,

if you come to Canada from other country and try to get a a license, good luck. or if you are canadian born and are under 25 good luck as well.

New drivers for cars get quotes starting at 500$ cad per month, and following are the reasons Insurance scammers give to Canadian public

1 you car in list of last 3 years of data with high accidents, so your rates are high
2 your car is in list of data of high thefts, so your rates are high
3 your car has 2 doors, so your rates are high
4 it has red color, so your rates are high
5 you live in a zip code where more cars get stolen, so your rates are high
6 you are a new driver, so your rates are high
7 you do not have full license, so your rates are high
8 if you have full license then you dont have certain years of experience , so your rates are high
9 you live in zip code where more people have claimed insurance, so your rates are high
10 you are under 25 years of age, so your rates are high
11 you claimed at fault insurance with random insurance company in last 5 years so your rates are high
12 your car is sports category car, so your rates are high
13 you live in zip code where cars often get stolen, so your rates are high
14,
YOU ARE SINGLE MALE, no spouse or live in girlfriend, so your rates are high

I am not in any of category above yet my insurance is high because i have 2500cc. These pigs always find a way because of corrupt politicians support.
I am also paying 300 for my car as well. I have clean driving record in this country for last 10+ years.

Dont believe me, call by yourself and try it

And god forbid if you ever get in accident and its your fault, they will double your insurance soon as they know that you got a ticket.

I know people ( canadian born) getting quotes of 15000 per year, yes 15K per year canadian just for 998cc motorcycle because they were 17 years old in Canada.

Same thing i seen my friends getting car insurance per month 700 per month because they just came to country even though they were riding in their country 10+ years.

These are the so called benefits of socialist country where they wont let any other companies come in and compete. Wireless services are also same, we are paying highest price for wireless services in G7, there is no such as unlimited phone data in Canada, some people make in national news when they accidently used google maps in USA roaming and got bill of 8000 CAD, this is how costly it is, because these politicians and existing companies wont let anyone come in specially from USA and make a better market.

now some canadian you may meet who are under their dad or grandma may get cheap insurance but thats not case of everyone in canada, also I think insurance scammers have fixed that loophole as well

Of course, now someone will comment on what i wrote above, defending these insurance scammers, I cant wait on those scammers support comments.

Canadian government and big corporations make sure here that YOU BARELY TAKE ANY MONEY HOME AFTER YOU GET YOUR PAYCHECK.

Please dont start me on this.
