One day after service. Motorcycle stayed over night, start of cold engine, on idle revs 1 min, then 3 minutes rest. Measured level of the oil.
I don't have polite words. Is this normal?

Are you saying that you saw it full with the correct method (start of cold engine, on idle revs 1 min, then 3 minutes rest) on the day of service and now, one day later, it comes up short.... or commenting on the fact that the dealer didn't fully top off the bike?

Level in middle of the marks was probably due to warm engine and riding from the service hall to the place of handover. Today, exactly following Triumph recommendations for measuring, I see only 1cm above low mark. I am curious what they will answer to my mail and photos.

By handover was temperature low, one piece. But they have the service hall maybe 100-200m far from the dealership. Therefore was the engine in the fact not cold.

Dealer called me.
He said that they fill ±4,5l oil as is described in Triumph instructions and level should be in middle between the min and max marker. He was surprised that it is so low. Currently they have other Rocket in service and the oil change was done in the same day as for me, but owner will some on monday. They will check the level of really cold moto and then will do some updates of the procedure, because it looks that there should be filled maybe 5l of oil. So and so, it is strange that Triumph doesn't know how much oil should be filled by exchange...
He also said that they will send me 1l oil that I can fill it to normal level.
Good approach.

They said that R3 can have oil consumption 0,7l/1000km
That seems a little high, doesn't it? I mean yes the bike is a beast and when we start ripping on the throttle we create forces that most other bikes never experience but even so that seems excessive. Maybe @dougl or @Journeyman have some input on this?

As I remember, I didn’t have to add oil to my 2005 or 2007 Rocket III.

That sounds way high. I probably end up adding a little over a quart, over time, between oil changes. Not everyone with the new 2.5s is experiencing this issue. I think the original owner babied it too much during the break-in. I got the bike with less than 300 miles on it. No smoke, but it does bug me.

Me either with my 2011 Roadster.

Because of this thread, I checked mine (800 miles after the 600-mile service) and it didn't even register on the stick. Added 1/3 quart (~3 dl) and it's now almost to the middle of the range. Since I didn't check before, I don't know if the service underfilled or if the engine is consuming. But I'll know after another 800 miles or so when I check it again.

So, in meantime I bought oil and filled to the engine exactly to the max level. I added there next 7 dcl. Some days later arrived bottle from the service.
Some people says that oil should be in the middle or three quarters between the marks, but my Suzuki service said that they always fill to the max mark. I think, this mark is there for some reason and if the oil level should be less, they would do the max mark lower. I will write after some thousands kilometers, what level will be.
