+1 on seeing the difference.

Just to throw one more monkey in the barrel. What is your take on these?
Kuryakyn Trucklite Phase 7 LED Headlamp

I have them on my Ultra and love them. If Kuryakyn had a 5 3/4" version (they don't) that's what would be on my Rocket. The HD version of the Phase 7 lights is over $1000 for the 7" main and the two smaller lights on either side. I got the whole kit from Kuryakyn including a bypass harness that allows all of the lights to stay on all the time for ~ $500.

Thanks Tex! Custom Dynamics has these for less than 300 bux. I think that they make them for Kuryakyn. I called them yesterday and they don't know if they will fit the R3t. I think that I have a glass 7" HD headlight lurking in the spare parts somewhere. I figure if that will fit, the LED should also. Got any idea if the spot light ones would work on the R3t?

I don't see why the 7" wouldn't slide right in, but no idea on the spots. I will tell you that the 7" main will stick out the front of the bezel farther than your stock lens...or at least it does on my Ultra. The stock trim ring works but looks a little goofy...gotta find a different trim ring...

Yeah, that is what the folks at Custom Dynamics said. They offer a LED trim ring that will sit flush with the front of the lens. Looks like a little too much flummery for my tastes on the web page. Never seen one in person though.

OK Tex,
I was ordering parts to repair my bike today. Reckoned I'd get a Christmas present for myself; so, I copied your instal words and photos from earlier in this thread and ordered up a couple of those HD Daymakers. Found them for $319 each.
I'll let you know how the instal goes after I receive them.

Has anyone tried installing the new CREE 50 Watt LED headlights? They come in 1800 and 2000 lumen sizes. Have read some excellent reviews when installed in 7 inch housings on other forums. CREE LIGHTS CLICK Not sure they will fight in our housings?

There are a couple of things that worry me
  1. Physical space in the shells.
  2. Heat escape from the existing shells - they're sealed so no air circulates. They have fans built in for a reason.
  3. Where would one hide the external driver boxes.

LEDS crash VERY fast if they get hot. Most have drivers that shut them down. Even a lowly 10W gets HOT very fast. It is their Achilles heel.

btw CREE just makes the LEDs themselves. There are 60W versions out there already 3600lumens.

The main issue however is that the Triumph headlamp design is SHYTE. More lumens wont matter - most of it will still get wasted.

Good price - Are you sure they're the NEW style? - Just asking as Most H/D shops (here) seem to have issues recognising differences other than colour.

Graybeard,
I believe they are indeed the new model with three across the top, one center and two across the bottom.

I purchased them from Kutter Harley in Wisconsin off of E-Bay/
We shall see if they are the real deal when they arrive.
Merry Christmas,
