2006 classic
Hello all captains.

I'm in need of a replacement ingition for an 06 Classic.

Can get a new old stock but has to come from the UK to New Zealand.

Is there any after market available?

Cheers

Well after waiting 5 weeks finally got the new ignition fitted along with a Garmin GPS hard wired to the ignition no more getting lost.

Now just need to find time to ride the beast.

Did you ever upgrade your headlight circuit with an Eastern Beaver Headlight Relay Kit (or similar products) to prevent too much power from being routed through the ignition switch (Triumph design flaw)? If not, the switch could overheat and fail again. This is one of the main causes for the switch failures on the early models.

If you switched out the halogen headlight bulbs for LED ones, the kit or mod isn't really needed because of the reduced current draw needed by the LEDs.

Even though you have cut the power in half through the ignition switch i feel safer to take it out of the ignition. With the eastern beaver or install relays using bat power like i did.

Hep fit a couple of relays ,done that mod years ago and no ignition switch problems.

I have a relocation kit coming if I swap for LEDs or fit a EB kit will I still need to replace the original ignition switch?

Thanks.

You may find some success with aftermarket alternatives for your '06 Classic, but it may vary depending on the model. Consider checking with regional vendors or internet retailers who specialize in vintage bike components if you want to avoid having to wait for parts from the UK. In any other case, your greatest chance of getting an exact match could be to order from the UK.
