Hahah dreamers...........

The Z1 would've eaten the Norton in a straight line...those big Japanese bikes weren't made for going around corners...and you could pretty much say the same for every Japanese bike in succession...the GS1000 was better than the Z1, the CBX was better yet, the GPZ was even better, and then we start getting into the early ****** rockets....
The CBX didnt handle that good I had several of those

I like the way the Rocket sounds. One of the first things I noticed when I bought the Rocket was how nice it was to ride with out the consent roar of the engine. Yes Harley's fixed up sound neat but after awhile it can get irritating.:cool::cool:

You don't even have to be riding one for it to get irritating. I won't ride behind a HD with loud pipes just because it is so irritating. Because of that I don't get invited on very many group rides that involve HDs.

Back in the day I pulled up next to a '73 Z1 on my '73 850 Commando with clip ons, rear sets and a Dunstall/Blair 2-1-2 exhaust and short gearing. I grinned over at him and he gave me the look! I must have psyched him out because when the light changed I took off and he just putted away. I had no doubt he would dust me but it never happened.

Something must have been wrong with my H2 due to my other H1 was faster. Indeed the 500 H1 was faster by quite a bit.

Just like a stock rocket up against Carpenter's Gorilla. I spent a ton of money on the 500. Heads and jugs to Calif. to get the spark plug holes welded up and relocate the plugs, the jugs had a lot of porting work done and Teflon skirted pistons to match.
There were a lot more tricks other than just adding velocity stacks and expansion chambers

I had planned on doing the same to the H2 750 ....but a divorce put an end to my playing

Stuff happens..........what can I say

Yeah, straight pipes out of the engine which so many Harleys use is just antisocial. When you start car alarms just passing by, you're not a rebel, you're just a sociopathic *******.

I'm all for a nice rumble, and am considering aftermarket slipons, but there's a world of difference between a nice noise and straight pipes.

The Kawasaki triples went like they were shot out of a cannon, the only H2 rider I knew loved the bike but the main thing I remember about his worked one was it drank fuel at an indecent rate when really on the gas it was flat out getting from town to town less than 100ks at times tiny tank and a hughmungous thirst:eek:

The Z1 accelerated faster but was only 5mph faster than a 850 Commando in top speed ,however if a corner came up it was Sayonara okiwa nakama

An H2 would've been hard to hold onto with all those mods!

They got horrible gas mileage...about as bad, or maybe a little worse than my Vmax was...the only time I checked it's mileage I got 22 MPGs...
