Do you have a multi-meter? May want to check continuity and then voltage levels of the connectors. There could be a wire loose or bad relay. The headed grips have a 2-pin connector under the tank that go from the main harness to a relay either just behind the neck or up in the instrument area (I have a touring so not quite sure on the Roadster).
For the headlight, check the bulb and make sure the socket is getting power. If it is then the bulb is bad. If no power to socket, then trace back to relays and ho/lo beam function too.
Now I have lost my turn signals
I followed the heated wiring harness from the relay had power at the relay and followed it to the first plug that plugs into the main harness had power but then lost power from there to the plug that goes to the handlebars switch so I tried another harness and lost power at the same spot
@rainman I'm just thinking out loud here. A picture being worth a thousand words, they say, I wonder if you were to download the manual from @idk signature, find the appropriate electrical page for your bike, and circle in red where you are measuring and where is the loss, it might help someone here have an "Ah ha" moment that could be the thing you're missing that puts everything back to rights.
If technology is limited where you are, perhaps you could at least download the manual, then get on the phone with me, and walk me through your description and I could annotate and upload, looking for that "Ah ha" moment.
Just got off the phone with Jay. When he put the old wiring harness back on- the headlights and heated grips still didn't work AND then he also lost his signal lights. He said he started the bike after switching harnesses, so wondering if it could be a bad voltage regulator burning out the bulbs?
If I understand correctly, everything was working fine before the heated grips install. So I would still be looking at that connection or anything else that was disturbed during install. Perhaps a pinched wire?, something grounding out?, or a ground issue?. I don't have heated grips, so not familiar with them, just throwing out ideas.
