I in a fit of stupidity tried to remove mine with multi grips thinking thats where you topped up rear drive oil................all i managed was to rip the mushroom shape cap off , so to rectify i use a rubber grommet over the breather tube with the breather hole slightly exposed

Nooo. The cap came of easy without braking. I spaced out and don't know where it went. Its about time for a splines lube and wheel polish. I go ahead and drain/refill the drive just for the hek of it. The first time Stout came out. I poured in some synthetic IPA. We'll see what comes out after a year of riding.

Sorry to hear yours broke. It seems it's not gonna come off in one piece. A clean up and paint job it is then.

checked mine this morning
cap does not move
mine looks like it is heavy duty and the case looks real thin so think that the only way would be is with a puller and pull straight up.

It'l come out. Used vice grips. I left mine without the cap. Lost it Have no idea why I took it off.

i would think that u could make a cap out of a piece of alu can.
they do not have to be real strong and a lot of the breathers on auto trans is plastic.
the trick is not to seal it off.

Same as mine. Damage is unavoidable if I try too hard to get it out. Clean, paint or keep polished is the way to go.

hi there,this breather is a push fit,well in 06 it was , now it's seized in , typical !!!
the mushroom top is spot welded to the 'stalk'.
i removed mine , snapped the weld & thought oop's !!!
pair of stilsons removed the rest, ( stalk part ,would'ent of come out , fought all the way )
left the breather in a cup of degreaser then petrol to clean it out.
put the mushroom part back on , drilled it out & used a rivet for now to joint it back together !
thought i would get a new 1 sometime !!
how much are they & where from ???
