Engine warning light

I'm a bit confused. What program were you using when you cleared the codes on the Rocket... Tune ECU or .. what???

Can you clear the Rocket's codes with a simple OBD 11 reader without TuneECU??
yes
i have a Bosh $100 reader that can read clear and get limited data.
saves on the big scanner. acts as a second opinion.
r scanners some times will not read codes or clear so a lot of times we use multiple scanners on one job

Like Turbo200R4 said a simple scanner that clears car codes will clear ours as well. I've cleared codes with the engine running doesn't hurt. If it's a real fault it'll come back. Sometimes computers just hiccup.

There are several free or low cost apps that will clear codes. I have an OBDlink MX bluetooth and free app. Works on all my vehicles to clear codes. Can also set up a virtual dashboard on phone

That's what I primarily use. Have a cheap (sub $25) Bluetooth adapter that uses the Torque app on my phone. It was like $5 for the app. They also have a Torque Lite app for free, but didn't give as much info. Use it for all my vehicles.

Sorry for not checking in on my own sight. To answer Gregger. The OBD II tool that I have will erase simple faults. Maybe more, but I suck at ANY program logic no matter how simple. Moving on... I went out to the shop and realized that the few times I”ve
used the reader the cars were not running. I tried the test again and cleared the fault. Again. The code was P1690. I cheated and called a friend who owns a repair shop. He’s got a couple of expensive machines. The snap-on machine called the code a error caused by a “weak, or loose connection “ it goes on to “check the connection on the instrument cluster”. I remember one of the Captains mentioning this! Thanks to all of you. A will lift the tank and reconnect and look for oxidation at connection points. If anyone comes across other causes please send me a PM.🥸🥸🥸🤞🙏

I had that problem for one, and then the temperature sensor, so you didn't blow up the motor after all?

Nope. Darn thing just has (had) that stupid red light. Honestly when I first realized I had a problem, the light was flashing occasionally while running 80 mph down the highway. It alarmed me. I pulled off the freeway. Light has never stayed lit. Just flickering. I own a 2008 R3T all dressed up. So I’m not without a ride. I just hate not repairing or fixing a problem.

Check engine on while running
Check when u can
Check engine light blinking
A more serious problem may cause damage to cat system
Check engine light flickering
Problem in the light circuit
More than likely ecu commanded light on but was unable to keep light on because of wiring. (Flickering)

WHAT DOES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DO WITH IGN ON engine not running (sorry caps)
