the older i get the worse my memory gets
i think (i may be wrong) that there was a thread where the compression release was messed up on the late rocket and that would increase the amps it draws.
maybe someone can confirm?

No compression release on late rockets but the new ones must be released to adjust valves. If thats what you were referring to turbo

I thinking that late rockets meant new rockets
yes that was what i was thinking a problem with those might make a starter work harder
of coarse this is just covering all the possibilitys
if you wanted to check this you could put a scope on it checking voltage then if you had on of the compression systems not working then you would see a spike in voltage higher than the other to cylinders . for example numer 2 cyl might read more than the #1 or #3 on the scope.
