Decosse's keyless ignition

Does the keyless system disable the kickstand switch? I almost never use the kill switch just because I am putting the kickstand down and leaving the bike in gear when parking anyway. Kill switch would just be another step.

Again, another no right or wrong situation, just a habit I would have to change when I finally pony up for the keyless system... once I decide if i want need the PDM60 that is.

@WyldCFH *NO* does NOT/NOT disable the kickstand switch. There are directions here for anyone wishing to do so -- not advised -- just available to get the bike running if kickstand switch fails leaving one otherwise stranded.

So no change of habits -- whatever you do with the kickstand now would continue.

You MUST use the Kill Switch to shut the system off - if you use the Kick-stand, it ONLY kills the motor, it does NOT shut the electrical system off
That would be no different than, with the std key system, setting the stand down then forgetting and leaving the key in the On position and left in the ignition - the headlights etc would still be on.

You can certainly still use the kick-stand to shut it off if you REALLY want to (although I personally do not think that is a good method, keyless or key) but you must set the Kill to Kill, just the same as you would turn off the key and remove it currently.

Kill switch would just be another step.

It is not ANOTHER (i.e. EXTRA) step - you would just be setting the Kill switch INSTEAD of turning off the Key and removing it.

One of our noted Captains with my kit was in the same habit - kicked the stand down, but did NOT shut off the Kill Switch and came back to a dead battery.

Ok "another step" is bad terminology on my part. "Different step" would be correct and require a new habit. The point being, I will start using the kill switch now to train my thumb to hit it when shutting down so it is not an issue later

GEE - WONDER who that could be . . .

I have killed my battery M-A-N-Y times trying to change my long time habit of using the kick to kill the engine.
I'm so bad that I now carry an ANKER power core jump starter 600 and my Bro Dan carries a set of cables for redundancy!

Lol you too bull? I carry a jump box as well, it's come in handy numerous times for myself and other people. It did take some time adjusting to using the kill switch, I never, ever, used it before this system, though I rather like it now.

Thanks gents, I will learn from fellow riders who relied on the kickstand to shut down as I do and make sure to carry my jump pack with me once I get the keyless.
