Dead roadster today

If you forget your key at home, and can't open the tank to fuel up.

I almost did it with my remote. I hadn't realized my key wasn't in my pocket until I went to grab something and saw it.
Guess I could always hide a spare in the bags

I'd be pushing for the tank and seat lock to be replaced too. Why should you have to carry 2 keys when it is a warranty job?
When my switch started to act up Triumph gave me the complete package, switch, seat , petrol tank free of charge and my bike was over three years out of warranty at the time.

I picked up 4 units off ebay fo $22. Not the whiz bang kind that already has the wiring all figured out for your specific bike, etc. These are just the basic RFID unit with 2 fobs. I will have to supply the relays, wiring, etc. However...if I can get it to work it will be at substantially less investment than the one listed in a previous post. These things have been used in car alarm systems for years so the technology is sound. I plan on either hiding a key on the bike or changing the gas cap out to one that doesn't have a lock.

R3Tex,
It's great that you have the 'lectric skills to save moola.
I hadn't even thought far enough to consider the tank and seat.
The convenience of not having to reach through and over stuff to get to that ignition would still be worth it, I reckon.

FOUR of them you bought!?
Will they fit in the new shed?

Let's hope so...although I may have to climb over all the $hit my wife thinks she's moving in there to put them on the shelf

After several phone calls and non return of phone calls i will finally get my bike back tomorrow , Long story short they where going to change the 3 locks out but non in the country so i would have had to wait 3 - 4 weeks . No chance of that happening so i had to get them to go back Triumph Australia and get approval for a locksmith to fix the new ignition to old key. They also told me the recall was never done on the ignition thats why it went so they did that as well , i hope this is the last time i have to get any warranty work done by this mob .

The recall was just a service Bulletin number 421, they never did a recall and they were suppose to be done prior to sale or at the next service and it is the head light relay that they put in to fix the problem.

Dave once you have your new ignition switch give me a yell if you want me to make you a Headlight relay harness to bypass the the heavy power load around your ignition switch

Good day, do you have a link for the harness also do you think this mod may be required on a 2014? Probably wouldn't hurt
