Carpenter Questions

Sorry for being skeptical, but it just doesn't ring true. I know from personal experience and conversations with Bob, he doesn't do anything half way. I find it hard to believe, seeing as even the 240 kit requires a larger fuel pump, that he would put in a fuel pump on the 265 kit so close to borderline that it couldn't supply 285 hp, let alone that he couldn't find a better/easier way to restrict it, as he tunes it. I mean he's working on a turbo kit that will hit 350-400 HP, so I doubt he'd be afraid of turning out 285 hp. I even asked him about keeping my pistons with less boost on the turbo, I don't remember his exact answer, but it was along the lines of why do things half assed, if you're going to make power, make power. I'll ask him next time I talk to him, but it just sounds like a story that got repeated to me, just doesn't ring true, as my dad used to say.

Mebbe' so. I'd be curious to find out, too.

Also, I'm thinking that the original 240 kit used the stock fuel pump, but I could be wrong...

For the uninitiated (wonder if the Captain is one of our members here?):

Looks like he's still learning how to master the Silverback, coz' it will bury just about anything out there up to a point.

Good video!
Why a PCV?
Are the 210 & 240 RWHP kits tuned with TuneBoy?

All of the kitted R3s coming out of Bob's shop are dyno tuned. Carpenter Racing can and probably do use TuneBoy, especially for those stubborn few that are modded and, yet, still running exhausts other than Carpenter's own designs. But even then, they still dial in the finishing touch with their dynos - old school!

Thanks, Phil, but why PCV?

Dunno, Steve. Maybe just to add a splash more fuel, whenever it's felt necessary (like at altitude)?

Bob had early problems with Tuneboy and got pissed, as I remember, I always considered PC redundant, too, but I have to defer to his expertise. But yes, he loads a basic tune with Tuneboy, and I suppose fine tunes it when he dynos with PC.
