I’m looking for something that connects to the battery and is smart enough to detect if the motorcycle is on or off and provide switched power to a GPS unit for example. I know quad lock has a smart charger that detects the battery output voltage and shuts off if it’s goes below a certain threshold. Do these units work the same way?

I don’t know if I’m comfortable enough tapping into the power cables myself to be honest. Am I out to lunch or does the above exist somehow ?

Something along these lines may do the trick - I don't know for sure, I just stumbled on this product the other day so I do not vouch for or endorse it.
Looks like Denali and a number of others make similar types of plug 'n' play interfaces but I've not seen anything specific for the 2.5's

It looks like this would do it. It allows for supplying continuous or switched power to a device and is Canbus compatible. You have to find a wire that supplies switched 12v power, like to the tail lights, and Positap this to a wire which connects to the FZ-1. The other 2 power inputs (hot and ground) are from the battery. Then you can select whether switched or continuous power goes to you device by the position of a fuse on the FZ-1.

My fuzeblock has six circuits, and how you install fuse for that circuit makes it on with key or off until you turn on.
