Battery charging port installation.

Just plug and play - simple fit
Plug and play for a UK bike, but a US bike has the ignition off switch there.doesn't it? I'm curious if it's easily swapped with this DIN port and if there are any issues (electrically) with removing the ignition switch (e.g. open circuit = ignition on?)

No, the ignition switch and the accessory port are located on the same side but in different locations. It's still just "plug and play". My US bike has both.

My bad. Does the kit come with wires that you just run up to the battery?

No, the kit is just the port and mounting hardware. The wire and plug is already in the loom, taped up behind the airbox.

The challenge is the cable can be a bit short, and you need three hands to hold it in place while you slide the waterproof boot over it before you can ease off the tension and mount it in place. Took me near 45 minutes to do, with much cursing before I called the missus and said "hold this for me" while I sorted the boot.

Cool, thanks. Ordered one. Is the power port itself (under the cover) a DIN style like above the dash or it is the trickle charger two prong style?

So does the Triumph trickle charger come with a DIN to 2-prong adaptor? In the picture I could find, the triumph charger had the 2-prong connection.
The 2-pin SAE plug (no official SAE designation) is indeed what the Triumph Optimate comes with. The round "DIN/BMW/Powerlet/Hella/Merit" (officially ISO 4165:2001) plug is what the accessory socket uses. But you can get a pigtail for about $20 USD that's DIN-to-SAE.

Got any tips on how to get to the harness for this kit? I see above that it's taped behind the airbox but is there a way to access it without significant disassembly?
