Another 'won't start' post but I have tried...

I've removed the Meta alarm/immobiliser that I thought was causing the problem, and fitted a bypass plug from Abacus Alarms. It was old and I believe the battery in it was dead (made some random fizzing noises).
Make sure the blanking plug is fully seated. I had a no start issue with my 08 and it was a loose blanking plug on alarm.

Very similar fault from a guy here in NZ....the loom from gauges that goes into main loom...he cut that open & found a broken wire where one purple wire went into 2 purple wires.
thanks i had forgot about that purple wire conection
would you happen to have a link to that thread that contained a good picture?
could very well be the problem or one of the problems

Here's a pic from my messanger video he sent me, not sure where he posted it though. I think the 2 purple wires came from gauges.

i just finished helping a guy that has an 05 rocket and one of the experts cut up the wiring. what a mess.
that connector with all the wires cut is not the factory alarm connector.
the guy i helped had zero mechanical/electrical experiance i hope you have some.
we were able to comunicate through (google meet) phone him showing me the wiring systems ect that i needed to look at.
the way that we need to start is to bypass all the ignition/keyless stuff and wire straight from possitive battery (for checking purposes) to the engine management relay.
so you will need a clamp, a fuse 20 amp, and a wire about 3feet long 12 or 14 gauge so we can clamp on battery and hook to engine management relay
if you want me to help just ask
Herman,
YOU ARD AWESOME!
So sorry to have missed you on my recent ride east.

Well, it looks like I've sorted it. After making up the lead suggested by TURBO200R4 (a big 'thank you' for your help) I figured out which wires needed joining.
It took a few blown fuses and some opening of the loom but it all seems to be working and none of the glitches it had before.

Ride safe!

Hi folks - not so old topic from a newbie here and not a R3 owner (but a 1995 T/bird 900 owner) trying to kelp a mate here on the west coast of Australia with an unmodified 2011 R3 Touring that won't start. The bike was running perfectly a week ago. He went to start in a few days ago and no start. Dash lights come on but button press does nothing. New battery fitted and charged - no change. Checked the starter button for continuity and ok; removed and cleaned the innards of the clutch switch which were a tiny bit (technical term) black, then cleaned; check starter relay with test lamp - no power to any of the 5 wires until s/button is pressed on W/R wire. No clicks from Start relay so replaced with new - no change. The s/stand switch is covered in crud so I disconnected it at the plug at the rear of the eng on LHS and put a jumper wire between the 2 wires in the plug that goes up to earth and the ECU - no change - the S/stand switch plug has 3 wires from it, curiously. I've been using a wiring diagram a little different from the one posted earlier in this thread. No blown fuses.

Help please. TIA 🙂
