3,000 drivers caught using mobiles in first week

Good thing about ridin i'll never get caught playing with my phone heheh. I ride on the M1 at night a fair bit and the amount of people you see on their phone is astounding, i have even seen people with tablets watching movies as they drive.

There's a natty little sting in the tail, too. If passenger Mum looks at a pic on her phone, and holds it up for the driver to see... BING! Same deal.

Mobile phone use while driving = £200 and 6 points in the UK.

12 points or more in a 3 year period and you could be disqualified for 6 months.

Had a mate one time who had himself all wired up to take calls hands-free while riding. We discovered that despite all this electrickery, he couldn't see texts without stopping. So guess what we did????

Same. During the time frame i worked a midnight shift saw the glow from tablets a few times to many. :(:(:(:(

Lose licence at 13 points (14 for professional drivers) with double points during long weekends, school holidays, Xmas, Easter, and so on. Plus fines, of course.

Very easy to lose your licence in one hit... school zone and phone during double demerits, and you're walking. Even a passenger's seat belt. Mum cannot turn around to referee the kids in the back!

Licence suspensions/cancellations 3 months and up... all points stay on record for three years from dates acquired - whether you're suspended or not.

Interesting, here in NY, professional drivers lose their license for less points than a regular license does, also drinking limits are lower, even in your personal car, penalties are more severe.
