2008 Rocket Issues

Warp, not sure what you mean. To what cut off do you refer? What happened after that VIN? I'm just not up on it.

And Big Gun, what is a damper bearing? I know that the his 2008 will have the normal issues that all bikes had but I was just concerned about those two major ones.

In any event, he's a darn good mechanic. On the way home from the Arctic Circle his TEX lost front oil seals which meant he rode the next 2000 miles over at sometimes real crappy roads with no front breaks because the fork oil had drenched the pads. I back to BC to meet with some Vulcan riders in Salmonberry and when I got to Gord's he had the Tex up on a lift with the front and rear wheels removed, the entire front end and the top end, the later to check the valves and install new shims.

I've suggested to him that he call Bob Carpenter and see if he could just buy the 240 HP upgrade kit instead of sending it out to him.

Can't tell ya, not a motor head. I turn the key, push a button and something magical happen.:D
I don't even change my own oil.
I'm sure one of the mechanics on the forum can explain it.
I know I saw the motor pretty much disassembled at the dealer and I only paid for fluids.

He's got it home. He drove 950 miles round trip yesterday. He said it's a pristine bike and sounds great with the Jardines but the owner believed it had the stock tune. I still have the TuneEcu software and a tune that I got for it from another forum member and then had tweaked by Hanso when I had the Jards on my Classic. I'll have to find the updated TuneEcu software, if still available, for him while he's gone and then will ride to his place and download it when he gets back from Argentina, actually, Uruguay. It is apparently easier to leave a bike in Uruguay for a month or so pending air shipment than in Argentina.
