Yamaha rider - considering a new Rocket III - would like advice

a rocket is like everything else big it is hard to fit in small places you just have to decide if it is worth the effort or not

I just bought a 2014 R3R and ride it when it is not raining. I live in Dallas/Fort worth and have not had any issues on the freeway during stop and go traffic or navigating in congested city streets. You will love it.

Hello and welcome Brad! I bought the real deal Rocket 3 without a test ride. I found out it handles well in any traffic. Before this I had a Vulcan 2000. That bike was harder to handle than my Rocket. You will definitely be glad you bought one. Just be prepared to be eye balled wherever you go with it...it draws a lot of attention. Looking forward to some pics!!

The rain thing is a compromise with the wife. She lost her brother on a motorcycle just after we got married. It has taken me nearly 12 years to get her to agree on getting one. It may take some getting used to to get her to not cry at the thought of me riding in the rain.

Hello mate and welcome , i may have some answers for you my friend based on the fact i have previously owned 3 vmx1200's over the past 10 years. As much fun as the VMX's are in their own right they dont compare for pure raw torque of the Rocket, also handling of the Rocket is far superior to the Yammie. I ride my bike 100klms each way to work and through some pretty ****ty traffic at times , the rocket is a big beast but the fact it is so easy to maneuver even at walking speeds is a testament of the way it has been laid out. So far only on one occasion have i clipped my mirrors on the cars eitherside while lane splitting and i put that down to my own bad judgement. Long story short she's a beautiful ride and can get nasty when need be , as you will notice on here not one Rocket owner has exactly the same setup and she is a perfect bike to modify to your own liking and comfort , all the best , hope you make the move :)

Seriously if my Mrs wouldnt let me get a bike for even a week it'd be time to upgrade the Wife/girlfriend :)

G'day and Welcome Brad ..sounds like you'll fit in well here ;) you'll find traffic just gets out of the way when they see a f#ckin Rocket bearing down on them .. pricks don't get out of the way for Speed Triples though .. just go buy yourself a RIII and you'll be the happiest man alive
