Whos Making Ext Controls for the Roadster

Somewhere in a box I was saving I have a complete set of pegs, bars, brake line and side stand for a Standard. Everything you need to convert either a Classic to pegs or a Roadster to forward mounted pegs. The plan was to keep them for the next owner to decide if they wanted boards or pegs, but what the hell ... I'll sell for the right price, I could use the money.

I pm'ed Wetrudgeon just that as I can get mine off if he will swap them but, Im now told by another that Im gonna need a diff mastercylinder if I get the rails off a 08 standard model as my mastercylinder on the 2012 R3Roadster will not work???? I looked pretty good today and my only problem getting them off is me getting on the ground to do it but ill dang sure do as Ill have a neighbor here to help me get up when I get them off. The brake side looks simple and I think the only problem if any is the mess the Master will cause if i don't have a good pan to catch the brake fluid,,BTW,Dot 4 ok in the mastercylinder or are they useing something different ? another thing I do plan on having floorboards sooner or later, they won't work on the 09 or earlier rails?? I all ears and watching this. Thanks much.

HellFire,,if your rails won't work down the road for floorboards, what do I need then to make them work? How much do you want for all I need? thanks. Gary

Standard peg rails are different, Classic board rails are different and Roadster peg rails are different. Pegs and boards will not interchange, even the side stands are different but this is the first I've ever heard anyone say the brake master cylinders are different on roadsters. Maybe an ABS thing? I dunno.

But the only boards you can put on peg bars are aftermarket (Rivco), and if you have normal to big feet they are too short and hokey from what I've seen and been told by those who bought 'em.

$250 for the set, but if they won't fit your master cyl. then they aren't worth it.

The floor board kit I bought from the dealer came with a new brake line between the frame and master cyl.. I didn't open the system and simply bent the existing line a little and never used the new one.

Hi

I am starting this process as well of putting standard controls on a Roadster. I sourced most of the stuff from ebay and I aim 99% sure you need to exchange master cylinders as well.
The other issue is bleeding the Roadsters brakes as the ABS valve needs to be open so you can bleed them.
You will need either the factory tool or dealer tool to do this.
It would be nice if Tune ecu had this feature.

I only need the master cylinder and adjustable linkage on the gear lever to start the task of changing them over.

Cheers

I hope this help's ! I have done the swap & the master cylinder will need to be swaped ! the roadster master cylinder look's upside down from the standard r3 m. cylinder & the rod is longer . On the change from standard to Roadster all you will need is a new Brake line or get a tubing bender and rebend your old line ! Gary you will need it all,the Standard r3 Master cylinder & Rails Pedals ,Linkage chrome covers ! Good luck Guys !

Understood Charlie. C,Im hopeing and looking too. From your large picture looks like the same setup thats on mine, too close for me and the shift side I cannot get to at all or get off it if i get my foot on the peg, can't function to shift it either, hip won't let me that high up and rearward.

We plan to talk to our dealer and see if they can tell us what would be involved for a straight swap of the controls. We are not much of a wrench, so it will need to be fairly simple for us to engage. We shall see... We trudge on.

Thats a good start for sure,LMK what they say. My dlr is in Daytona Beach,BMW cycles, and its 268 miles to there as I couldn't get a deal here in Tallahassee and Im not sure either what we have to have. Ive been told here on this website we need a special tool to bleed the braks on account of the ABS system??. Thanks for taking time for this. Gary.

Yesterday I got my sis totake me to the local Triumph dlr here in Tallahassee. Sat on the Touring modeld he has in showrom. Thats the minimum that my legs will stand, they have to be out that far and i really want them down lower too.Standard controls I doubt will be down and far out enough for me.Dr put me on some stronger Hydrocodone, feel better but hip still trumps it out. Im gonna try tomarrow and see if i can get my left foot up that high on peg & shifter.
