RAAs are Rocket gatherings, yes, but a few who have moved on to other bikes still attend regularly. Temps in the 70s or 80s in the summer, probably similar to southern Michigan, quite pleasant. I've ridden to Michigan a couple times on my CB 750, so it should be a breeze on a Rocket.

Being from Michigan it looks like quite a ride from here. I have never been on that long or extensive a ride by myself, but I have been thinking about giving it a try. Turning 69 and it's kind of on a bucket list if you know what I mean. I could see doing 2 out 2 back and 3 days to play around for me. Tell me, having never been to one, do other types of bikes join in or is it pretty much a Rocket Rider thing? As long a the weather is warm I like riding...not so much on the 30's, 40's and 50's all day. In spite of the gear I have, the old bones just don't like it.

hook up with rocket scientist /warp/ few others over youre way I believe,(will not find people more willing to help each other) maybe help each other out helping to get there RAA definitely rockets across America but from what I have seen its more like FAW friends across the world Adirondacks,finger lakes should be great that time year

I vote for Kansas, yes the riding is ****e, but I have friends there whom I haven't pissed off yet

Straight open roads definitely not the type of roads you would want to ride a Rocket on. Centrally located in the united states so every one has a chance on going, bad idea. Cuba sounds better.

I think we're due for one in the Northeast in 2017, the Adirondacks are nice, or the Finger Lakes area.

I was thinking that the west coast is a bit far for me this year. The exchange rate sucks right now ($1.38CDN) so something a bit closer. There are plenty of East coast Rocketeers that might want to look into a (maybe not so) mini RAA this side? The Adirondacks are great. Nice roads and scenery. Before I went to my first RAA I attended a few"Rocket Salvoes" organised by guys from the dot.com site several of which were held in this area. That's where my moral turpitude began, coinciding with rooming with Warp 9.9 for the first time!

Took a 4 day trip with 5 other guys this past September down to the Ohio River. Spent our first night in Maysville Ky and then rode the Ohio River route up and back down and around to Summersville West Virginia. Next day was the ride up through the Monongahela National Forest to St Clairsville Ohio near Wheeling WV to spend the night. Picked up I-70 the next day for the ride back home.

It was great ride with one word of advice....stay on the Ohio side of the river as far as you can before turning south to Charleston, as the roads are better in Ohio. As for for the Monongahela Ride, the roads were great. 4 non stop hours for beautiful country full of twists and turns.

How to explain RAA? Hmmm...well for one thing there are a lot of Rockets there and everybody rides. This isn't your typical motorcycle type get together. Secondly, the people are some of the best you will ever meet...bar none. Some will ride most of the way across the country to hang out at RAA for a few days, ride and catch up with friends they haven't seen since the last RAA. There is usually alcohol consumed in the evenings along with a pretty tasty meal, whether it be Josey's BBQ and cobbler in Maggie Valley or David's steaks in Montrose we usually eat pretty good. Did I mention that we actually ride? RAA is usually held in a great riding area and it is good to ride some of the best roads in the country with good folks that know how to ride them. Last year some members on this forum got together and brought one of our Australian friends over for RAA. I put 4,500 miles on my Red Headed Slut showing him some of Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina and states in between. Others on here took him around to various other points of interest and the trip was generally enjoyed by all. Past experience does not predict future performance, but if these folks are involved I will take my chances and do my best to attend.

And just to add @Bedifferent the ones that are a long way from you can be accomplished a few ways. Trailer for one thing so your not worn out when you get there. Or as I do break the ride up some. I usually meet up with that old bastid Paul somewhere because he is riding from Siberia (Canada) we grab a motel and then continue on the next day. I must admit from Illinois to Colorado via St. Louis and Lupe's in Oklahoma for some Menudo was a wee bit of a ride perhaps I should have been on a Rocket instead of my Sprint ST for comfort would have been more agreeable to my body but the point is take your time lord we would not want you to wreck and break you back or anything pushing it. Don't ask me how I know

Anything further out west and I to might trailer at least part way and then ride.
