What did you do to your Rocket today?

I think I know why dealerships charge so dang much for labor. And I send much respect to those of you who do your own work for the fun of it.
I got back to Brahma today to remove the header and cross over. The first thing I do is strip the lousy hex bolts holding the chime covers. Why does Triumph hate me so much?

I got the chrome cover off of the starter side so I could get to the left crossover bolt. Luckily this one was not too tight and the open end could get it. I had NO room to use the box end and of course, I couldn't find the 12mm socket.

Now to the right side bolt on the cross over. It was harder to get to because I cannot remover the dang chrome cover. I had to use a cheater but did get it off.

Next to remive the O2 sensor. Once more, Triumph hates me and makes thus a weird size nut that I don't have a wrench for. So, adjustable Cresent wrench it is. Nope, too blasted tight. Time for a different cheater.

Since black is the fastest color, I know the O2 sensor is the best. Just look atvthe perfect color of black it is.

Now for the header bolts. It sure would be easier if I could take the chrome covers off. Stripped 2 of 3 hex heads.

Well crap! After much fussing with the 12mm boxed in wrench, I got all 6 loose. Of course 5 of the 6 studs came out of the block. Now how do I get them out of the flanges?

well boog the trick is to not muck it up in the first place
what u should have done was to cut the top round section off the nut. going to guess that the nut was torqued down till it grabbed on to the stud like an alligator.
so take a die grinder and cut the top off of that nut. put some wd40 or simulator on the nut and let it soak.
take two extra nuts on the side that goes into the block and put them on and lock them together then put a wrench on the inside nut and wrench on the one u want to take off and maybe u can get it off.

boog if u need more help u can pm or start a new thread.
i would b happy to share my expertise

You make that sound so easy.

Noticed yesterday my 2018 roadster with 8k miles is leaking engine oil at the output shaft , back to the shop. I purchased an extended warranty and they can fix that and the seeping top cover they did not fix last time in. Thought about getting rid of the bike for a kaw or yamaha but It is paid for and I really like the bike so just keep on keeping on.
