Hello! I just traded my beloved 2006 Harley Fatboy for a 2008 Rocket III Touring. Loved the Fatboy but my lady and I enjoy going camping a lot (tent camping) on our bikes. She also has a Fatboy. Packing all the gear we need for camping was a bit tricky even though I have a lot of tiny ultralight stuff as I used to be a Scoutmaster and was into (still am) ultralight backpacking. We also have been yearing to take some really long rides across country and the Fatboy's just aren't comfortable enough for that!

So I priced out Harley's and said "hell no". I even test road a few and just didn't like the way they handled and my knees felt cramped.

Heard great things about Triumph and started researching the Rocket III and the Thunderbird. Found the used 2008 Rocket III with 10K miles for $9495 in Virginia and rode down from Maryland to look at it yesterday. Big and Beautiful! Took it for a test ride and it blew me away. Little bit taller when I'm standing at a light, but not bad. Handles great and hitting the throttle just put a HUGE smile on my face!

Now if it just had some louder pipes!

Welcome to the nut house :)
Enjoy your riding I am sure you will find some pipes for her. Wait until you find the extra ponies chained up in the ECU on the touring models. I am sure plenty touring people will be along to point out some must do things.

Thanks for dropping in!!! Even if you are an "old timer" why don't you post a little something here? The new people, the old people, and everyone in between like to know who they are talking to. It gives your avatar a little character!!

I be Toystoretom and live in Blue Springs Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City. I have a black 05 Rocket. That bike makes me grin more than just about anything else I've ever ridden. I have a cat that I will ship to you, I just need your address.....
Hey Ya'll,
New Rocket pilot, old retired Army pilot from lower Alabama. I purchased my 2014 Roadster earlier this year and am in the process of breaking her in and dressing her up (so she will know who's boss and look good to all my friends). I had a Bonneville T100 with a Spyder sidecar that I put together to ride my Grandson in. He moved with his family to Hawaii so I no longer needed the rig and traded it in on the Rocket. Love the bike! Looks good, runs quickly down the road, and impresses even my Harley buds! You guys have a great site running for the Rocket folks. I am learning daily about the Rocket by reading the posts. By the way, the depiction on the left is a picture of my T100 with sidecar drawn by my Grandson. You might not recognize it, but I certainly do. Love must be blind! leatal

WELCOME!
Is there really a FINKSBURG???
How far from Studley, VA?

Hello @Cmdrklassen and welcome from Virginia. Hopefully you will get a lot of time on the bike before the snow shuts the counry down.

Hello @Cherokee and welcome from VA. I understand the desire to have thoe loud pipes, but I find being a little more quite when riding the R3 the way some of us do is actually a benefit as Johnny Law doesn't seem to notice as much. Riding here in the DC area gives me plenty of experience in dodging the ticket writers by not beng loud. Good luck brother and if you can meet up somewhere, I have TORs on my bike that seem pretty tame by my standards but have been told turn up the volumne once I get on them hard' just not V-Twin loud.

Hello @leatal and welcome from VA. I am considering a side car rig for my winter riding needs, maybe a Ural. Never had one but I lost 12 days of riding last winter and 8 days the winter before due to snow and ice. I figure I can keep my mental well being in tact if I can keep riding all year. Will keep the Rocket no matter what though. Welcome brother and keep us posted on your mods.
