Valve P.M.

A motorcycle mechanic at a dealership told me that the R3 engines really don't need valve adjustment since these engines never hit extreme sustained RPMs.... with that said I had mine adjusted at 10k miles.

Afterwords the tech told me that I had one valve out and it was very small on top of that. I felt like I should have took my money and burned it.... would have gotten more out of it.

This was back when Triumph recommended the adjustment at 10k rather than the newer 20k.

Och! I like the a.m. But Pre menstrual, da*n, you've never heard me bit*h at all! Now Bedifferent has heard me, and I think the moon or sun or whatever, was ever an issue...
 
That is what my previous mechanic said when he checked the intake and exaust at 20,000. Now I'm at 40,000 and the engine sounds fine. Performance hasn't changed, and as the Triumph mechanic in Grand Rapids told me, if it ain't broke...
 
The valves can be out of adjustment and not make a noise but can cause engine damage. If a mechanic told me that i would be looking around for a new mechanic. I do my own maintenance vice letting a shop.
