Utah Rides!

Steep switchback gravel would be a deal breaker for me. Maybe would do it on my DR650 if I still had it but no way on the Rocket.
Lol, when I bought my Rocket, I still just had a learner's permit, I had my wife follow me to the Triumph Noreast Rally in her car, we camped at a state park. The road in to the site was down into a valley, loose shale with a switchback half way. When we got to the bottom, my wife, driving her car, told me she was scared the was going to go off the edge, into the ravine next to the road, I told her honey, you have no idea, lol. A couple guys from Canada were there, on adventure bikes, one of them did go off the side into the ravine, he needed a wrecker to get it out.

I found that road on Google maps but did not see where it ended up or if it turned to dirt. I don't like dirt.
I have ridden the Burr Trail. From the intersection of UT-12 and the Burr Trail it is about 30 miles of absolutely gorgeous riding on paved road. At that point one reaches the edge of the Capitol Reef National Park. At this point the road turns to dirt/gravel. Not too far after this point there are a series of switchbacks, also on dirt/gravel road. I turned around where the road turned to dirt/gravel as I do not trust myself on such a heavy bike (2014 R3T) with street tires on this type of road. I would love to go back to this road with my V-Strom 650 which I think would be a more appropriate tool for the job.

Never did the Burr trail when I toured Utah but done the Moki Dugway from Mexican Hat to Blanding on my Rocket ,was interesting .Started from Delta went to Larb hollow overlook then on to Bryce canyon then to Glen Canyon dam ,Mexican Hat , Blanding before hitting Colorado. Exellent roads very enjoyable ,

The Moki Dugway does not scare me. I’ve ridden it at least four times and it is worth it for the view and the good paved roads on either side. I just love that area.

Actually I think I have done the Moki Dugway back in 2008. Do these pics look like the top of it? Now I kinda remember having trepidation going down it on my old Valkyrie.
