Using a Motorcycle Jack

What type of Jack is recommended to raise the Rocket 3 GT in order to change oil (or just to access the bottom of it)?

Yes - I use a similar one with some rubber blocks to avoid scratches...

I have that exact "ATV" jack. They are less than $100 when on sale at Canadian Tire. I would drive my R3T up onto two pallets with a space in between left for the jack, then I used a square of hamster bedding between the jack and the bike to maximize surface contact area / reduce any pinpoint stressors. Worked like a charm to get both wheels off the ground for the winter.

I use something like that on my heavier R3T. As long as you position it correctly and secure the bike, you should be fine.

Looks like that tire has s#1t it self I can see the brown stain on it.

My question is where under the bike do you place the jack. I have the one pictured and it grabbed the frame on my Harley. Kinda leary about lifting the engine in the right spots.
