Updated Rocket 3 be Released?

Seeing as how the rumours suggest the next Rockets will have the same power/torque as the TFC, has anybody ridden the base R model and the TFC? Is there a noticeable difference in performance or is it marginal? I love my Rocket but the obvious power restrictions are a bit irksome. I’ve toyed with the idea of remapping but am too frit that things might get effed up.

Derestricting the electronic throttle in your stock base tune won’t eff anything up. This is essentially what Penner did.

This discussion about how Triumph might give you more power in the next model is reminiscent of the Rocket Roadster. This was billed as “unleash the power!”. All they did was to open up the secondary throttle plates more but not even all the way. By that time, everyone had opened them to 100%. Now you can do the same thing with the electronic throttle, as Penner has done. It would be nice if Triumph would offer higher compression pistons, cams, valves, porting, exhaust, but this is never going to happen.

There’s a Penner tune for vin’s after av5457 which all 2024 US R models must be. You’re asking if anyone with a US 2024 R tried to load it and what happened.

That would have been my next question, yes. I'm also in the beginning learning and research phase of TuneECU so I may not necessarily ask the right questions. Just because the new models are after av5457 does that mean it should work given that the bike's are pretty much the same?

..nothing has changed in the motors since the new generation came out...you need to have the correct tune that matches your vin and youre good to go...look up 'Triumph Custom Tunes" on google and it will take you to the correct page..

When you connect to the ecu, I believe it tells you the base tune that’s in the ecu. If that’s the same tune that Penner modified, it should work. Unless Triumph has done something weird such as preventing anyone but a dealer from loading a tune. No evidence for that yet. If a particular 2024 model doesn’t work with Tuneecu, the developer should let you know.

Also remember there are two tunes on Penners site for each range of VIN's. The stock tune and the custom tune, don't just reload the stock tune. Look for the custom one.

I believe this is the correct or at least most current custom map on the tuneecu site.
