Update...broke down yet again

If the connections was correct then it would not be sparking.
Now i have confidence in them fixing it. I think
Lol
All I can do is pass on what Ive been told. After I was given the all clear from BMW, the connections were good. They still were good when it broke down again. This time all the lights back and front and dash were flickering on and off very fast. More than likely the 2nd time its not the connections anymore. Its something else.
Did the battery have a fault in those 24 hours? Did the next weakest link short out? I cant answer that. If you lived near me I would have passed the bike on to you to look at. I have no other options here other than the dealer or let it sit in my house and gather dust. Either way right now its not a rocket but an expensive boat anchor.

Be interesting to see what a new battery does, any which way hope it all works out & not too expensive for you. ✌😎

The resting voltage seems a bit low for a good battery, should be around 12.9 to 13.4v. These new R3s are very voltage sensitive they even put it in the owners manual. They put such a tiny battery to save a couple pounds to reduce weight. The next time try hooking it to a full size car battery with jumper/booster cables and look at voltages. Another thing is the vibration tends to shake the terminals loose. Look for any corrosion/arcing signs is a sure sign something isn't tight enough. Good luck getting it back fixed.

Thanks. I made it clear I want a solution, not a band-aid fix. If they have to have it for a month, so be it. I have a good relationship with the guys at my dealership. Fingers crossed.

If the new battery does not fix it you may want to make sure thecTFT system is functioning properly.
Yes. We discussed that it really could be a myriad of things. From the dash to the clutch lever to the starter button to wiring under the tank to the wiring to the battery and the battery itself.
If I don't hear from them next week then I'll be extremely nervous

Yeah, don't get me going...all it needs is a bigger tank, foot pegs, battery, bags, bug screen, passenger seat, rear fender.... :whitstling:
The foot pegs. For grown men with tiny feet. My boots get scuffed in turns even when on my tip toes. They shorten the pegs for further lean angle They are uncomfortable for long distances due to the small width and length. Speaking of small width and length anyone heard from EasTex lately?:p
