TuneECU .... free tuning software

All good monopolies eventually fall by the wayside, for what he was charging I'm not sure I would call it "good" though. Hopefully he invested well. ;)

It was probably cracked by a 10yr old and a playstation.

Just ordered the cable, this should be very usefull for diagnostics if nothing else.

TuneECU will load the tune file FROM your ECU. TuneBoy/TuneEdit does not do this. You can load tunes to a bike with TuneEdit, then open them with TuneECU and they are converted to the hex format. I am working to convert many R3 tunes this weekend.

There are several US sources for the OBD II cable using the FTDI chip and ISO9141 and KWP2000 transmission protocol (VW/Audi, Skoda, Triumph).

And on ebay.

Just do not use the drivers that come with the cable. Rune the FTDI drives from FTDI:
Virtual COM Port Drivers

The TuneECU software works very similarly to TuneEdit/Tuneboy, but has a slightly different appearance. Even the MAP and TPS based fuel tables are named the same (F and L). I am sure at the price (FREE), and not needing a specific tuning key for each bike's ECU, the tune list will grow rapidly for all models - especially the R3.

Can you get the cable in the States reasonably? Looks like they all come on a slow boat from China... :(

Go through these and find the ones shipping from the US.

As for those having issues opening the files for the R3, it seems that some are having this problem with TuneECU recognizing the files. It looks like it is only a glitch for some, not all, and Alain (the developer of TuneECU) is working on it.

There have been, and will continue to be, a few bugs to work out in TuneECU. It is new and v1.5.3 is only a few days old. Give Alain a bit of time, and I am sure he will work this out.

In the mean time, open the map from your own ECU and work from this. A few of us are working to convert R3 TuneEdit maps to the hex format and will have these available soon.

Dougl - The next time I come to Reno, I won't be packing my dyno, but we may be able to get access to a local one for a couple of hours. We just might be able to work something out. I like Blackjack and bourbon, and it seems that Reno has plenty of both. :D

I don't go for Black Jack but Jack Daniel's is another story. We have a big MC event here in September (Street Vibrations).
