Triump vs Harley

Not all Harleys are slow. My red haired bastard child of harley can blow the rocket away in the twisties, a bit slower on acceleration but faster on top end than standard rocket. Don't ride it much cos I luv my rocket . Done 43k miles on rocket an 3k miles on harley over the last 5 years . DSC01706.JPG

That isn't a Harley-Davidson. That is a Honda-Davidson. How do I know? I had a Street Glide in the same color. All the 'Real Harley Riders' told me I didn't have a 'real Harley'. I guess it was too good? It wasn't slow, but under 5K it was a pooch. At full tilt it wasn't bad. It didn't handle fantastic, as it was heavy and long. Nimble it was not. I MIGHT go a little faster around a corner, but the Rocket wouldn't be far behind. The Rod was a good concept, but Harley basically ditched it. It was too good for Harley guys, and not good enough for everyone else. Punch that motor out to 1800cc and put in a real chassis and I'd be there.

We rode one of those one time. The engine was sweet but the handling of the bike was not all that. I guess we did not fit the bike very well. (short legs) Maybe the guy we got in a little race with on the v-rod was new but he could not even come close in the twisties. We stopped and talked awhile about our bikes and he was really impressed with the Rocket X. He did make a comment about how he catches a lot of crap from the main stream Harley riders. When I told him we have a Harley fatboy back at the house the conversation really got going. He had no idea that Truimph made a bike like the Rocket. By the way that is not a Honda Davidson it is a Porch davidson.

The V Rod is the fastest Harley A buddy has a Screaming Eagle version with the bigger engine and all the race goodies like you say my stock 09 Rocket is Faster and I beat him on the twisty roads also The V ROD is the best HD BUT I like the Rocket better and its so easy to make 165 to 175 HP with just a Pipe and intake mod and a retune

I still have my Electra Glide, but let's face it; Harley vs. Triumph doesn't really exist. The Harley loses in every measurable way. I have owned 7 Harleys and this is my second Triumph. Funny enough, the first bike I ever owned was a 72 Triumph Bonnie. It would slaughter all the Harleys then, and my Rocket will slaughter them now.

Not in Dealer support!

Aftermarket and dealer support. Right now HD has the market in both.
Polaris has a ton of criteria for a dealership to meet to become an Indian dealer, their benchmark is HD.
You can build a HD clone out of catalog parts.

Not in Dealer support!

Considering I wouldn't let a dealer air up my tires, much less work on my bike, I couldn't care less about dealer support. My Triumph dealer in Daytona Beach is 3 miles away. Closer than any Harley dealer. Big deal! Last Harley I sold was a 1965 XLCH. How much dealer support on that?
