Greetings!

I've done the search dance with no luck, so I post here!

I can no longer "toggle" to my trip odometer. The main odo works (as do the speedo and tach), but turning the selector on the speedometer "anti-clockwise" does nothing.

Where should I start looking?

If the bike had a fuel gauge or the fuel light did something other than tell me I have driven 10 miles since my last fill-up, the non functioning trip odo would not be an issue.

I guess I'll wait and see. I've been having problems with the selector being "erratic" for some time.

In other words, some time it worked, other times not. It seemed to be more reliable (but not 100%) with the bike not running (but with the key on, obviously).

Thanks!

I bought my '04 with 8000 on the clock, and the trip has never worked. I keep a notebook to record milage in my jacket, the low tech solution.

I recall someone had this problem and the cause I think was the nob had slipped on the spline - or had been replaced incorrectly. This meant that when he turned it there was not enough travel to activate the reset. Maybe try taking the nob off and relocating it on the spline slightly.

Ok, I'll bite. How do you get it apart? I honestly haven't looked but do have the owners and shop manuals...

--ok, I looked at the service manual and see that the knob is just bolted onto a splined shaft. I will take it apart and see what happens...

I haven't taken it apart, but it did re-start erratically working last night. Weird.

At some point, boredom and curiosity will force me to take it apart, but that is not this day.

I have exactly the same problem. Is it possible to take these things apart I have removed everything but dont know how to get the bezzel and glass off so I can gt to the internals. Is it possible and if so how please.
