As they say, "If you gotta ask, you can't afford it." I saved a lot by pulling the engine and reinstalling it myself. Some Captains go further and save by disassembling the engine, too. Then they send the trans parts directly to Robinson. That also saves on shipping because the components are a lot lighter than the whole engine. First I built a nice wooden box for the engine. In retrospect, I should have secured the engine better. I had one ratcheting strap holding it down, it worked loose during transport. No serious damage. I hired YRC to ship it from Tucson to NJ for about $280. On the return trip, I had trouble working with YRC, so I let Carpenter use their shipper which costs $590 back To AZ. Undercut gears - $490, billet 4th gear - $270, labor - $900. Additionally, I had bought some new trans parts like shifter forks to be installed during the rebuild - whether it needed or not. I also requested new trans bearings, needed or not, to start out fresh, but Robinson elected to go with the old ones. I paid $13,000 for my R3R new in 2014, so I don't mind investing some more. Nowdays, you can pick up a clean, low mile, used Roadster for much less and can afford to pump a few grand into it to make it bullet proof and/or more powerful. My engine dynoed at 230HP /170 ftlbs @ the rear wheel. It is an incredible machine.

Yeah thats alot i probably couldn’t afford or capable of doing all that, thanks for the breakdown on how you did it

The undercut price seems quite high. Mine was AUD 350 which would have been around USD 250 at the time. Caveat - I dropped off the input/output shafts completely parted so my guy literally got straight to grinding then reassembled
