I was just thinking about your situation and was wondering if all of the grounding lugs/wires have been reattached to the frame to the battery. Sometimes one is under a bolt that had to be removed and might be hanging left ungrounded.
I have been tracing the wires from the manual that journeyman linked me to. So far, there are only a few wires that are not connected to anything and they pertain to things I don't have, such as heated grips. I am leaning towards something on the bike wiring an issue. I have traced the lines from the gauges to the plug and it all looks fine. All the sensors and lines that come from the engine are correctly lined up and connected. So I am looking for that one stupid problem in a bundle of wires.

It very well may be a ground on the ECM harness. If I pull the ECM plug and turn the key on, the gauges do the start sweep. If its all plugged together, they will only do it once the bike is started and running. So there is either a ground that is MIA or something is happening out of order.

Well, here is an update. It works! And I have no idea how I fixed it. I have played with SOOOOO many things and it one time I turned it off and turned it back on the gauges worked and it fired right up. I still have a "slightly rich" condition where it idles low and if you bump the throttle it dies. I am going to let it cool off for a while as I dont have a radiator on it and its 85 outside and see if all is well after it cools off.

I've been through the same chit. In my case, I had switched injectors, coils, crank position sensor, spark plugs, and still had strange stuff going on... until like magic she started and purred like a kitten. Changed out so much stuff, I still don't know what the original problem was. I too long for the days of points, condenser, coil and a carburetor!

Well having the full exhaust on certainly helped.
Next hook up TuneECU as the guys said and set the primary TPS / reset ISCV.
Check the secondary one is also right.
Then fire it up and see what kind of MAP you got on each cylinder at idle.

From the video it sounds like something is off in the above areas. Assuming the map is correct.

I just completely reinstalled the engine, air box, battery box, throttle cable, and clutch and ensured all the wiring was routed correctly (what a pain) and plugged in. I still have to reinstall the exhaust and radiator that way I can let it run for more than a few minutes. But it looks like a massive thunderstorm is rolling in so it my stop my work the rest of the day.

I will install it on my tablet instead of my phone and play with it. apart from the basics, I havent had time to really get into TuneECU since yesterday.

Well, installed the radiator and exhaust and its back to doing the same thing that it was. Going to order a handful of plug housings that were in bad condition and give it a few days for a break. To me, nothing is more frusturating than electrical, especially when your not as smart at the thing your working on.

Well, the good out of this is now you can find what's wrong, nothing more frustrating than not knowing what makes it work and waiting for it to happen again.
