Touring Tires

I agree. My next set will be Bridgeston Exedramax Radials
Rear. 180/70VR 16 77V
Front 150/80VR 16 7

I ran this combination and it is very solid. I’m running the Excedra Max on the rear of my 2015 but I still have the original Metz on the front. I did find that when I was running the Excedra Max on the front as well the steering felt a little heavy. With that said, I rolled through twisties in West Virginia with authority and no problem. A very solid feeling combination. I haven’t yet decided what my tire combination will be when it comes time to do the front and back together. I love the Bridgestones, but I am giving the Michelin’s a good look.

Thanks. Just installed new Avon's. Went with 170-70-16 rear and oem 150-80-16. Wow I love the feeling of new tires.. just need to be careful wearing them in now..
Doing a lot of slow risiri with right turns to master the balance

I've been through two or three sets of Avon Cobras, I am very happy with them, longer lasting than the Mettzlers and I noticed no difference in grip. I noticed a little quicker steering initially, but this set now Im running a 200 rear, which kind of cancelled that out, l will probably go back to the 180 next time.

Metzlers, didn't like them, had them on for 2-weeks and got rid of them, went to a set of Avon Cobra's, nice dry tire, gets a bit sketchy on wet roads as it wears down. went to a set of Pirelli Night Dragons, freakishly awesome on dry pavement, but when you get them on wet surface, it can be a pretty terrifying experience. Next set will be Michelin commander II's, have used them on the virago and Harley and I found them to be great in the dry, and good in the wet, but that is just my experience with various tires.

Just ordered another Excedra Max for the front as the Metz was getting down. A fellow bike rider noticed it. Last time on my first rocket the Metz was still looking good at around 10k (mostly cupping), but apparently not so much this time on my newer rocket as it is looking poorly with only around 6.5K on it. As a result, I wasn't paying that close attention to it. Unusual for a front tire. Oh well, maybe the Avons next time as the Bridgestone 150/80 R16 is getting hard to find. I paid around $137 with shipping.

did you go back to 180s ? I was thinking about switching to 200 but don’t wanna loose any steering

I did go back to the 180, quicker steering for sure.

You can not beat the Commander II. Best tire ever made.
