I'm 5'7" 160 and my a s s reaches 1/2 way back the touring seat The size doesn't intimidate me it just makes me look smaller than I already am. That won't stop me from buying one if they stop producing it.
It is more than time for Triumph to use the Rocket platform to build the ultimate cross continent true touring bike (GW style), equiped with trailer hitch and all. Heck even the trailer.
Had one on one of my VTX 1800s that I purchased used, Jim. They have a quite decent build quality for a non-custom saddle, however I think that they are very pricey for what they are and if the R3 Touring model is the equivalent to what I had, they represent only a marginal improvement over stock. You'd might be better off having your OEM saddle re-contoured by someone who knows what their doing, IMHO.
Rick Mayer Cycle is said to be coming out with a "revolutionary", leather-covered seat pad, made with a proprietary medical-grade material on the inside which they claim can deliver amazing cushioning and relief to lower back pain sufferers like me, sometime in early 2015. According the the December issue of BackRoads magazine, where I read about it, it is estimated that it will run about $200. I haven't been able to find out anything more about that, at least, not yet!
