Top speed on your Touring?

My GPS shows a top speed of 117. I don't always have it mounted and have seen the speedo needle sweep past the 120 mark.

This is with Metzlers and Avons, balanced with lead weights. Also, Tuneboy with speed limiter raised.

Oh, and Lester, the R3T does not have a tach.
Mine does! And a water temp gauge to boot!

My R3T has been up to an indicated 115 with the Roadster screen on it - and there was some throttle left.

Yeah, I have a Scangauge that shows all that stuff as well. You may have had some throttle left, but that pesky ECU won't let you use much more before it shuts off all the fun.

Hi guys
Top speed i have seen is 120 solo .115 two up blasting down the M40 heading too London , two see my son in hospital one night It was cruising at that for a good few miles (does shake a bit at that speed )

Defective?

Travelinguy here....11 months non-stop, on the road around the the US....currently in Mulberry, Arkansas....(just West of Fort Smith)...anyway...Mine must be defective...I have a 2008 Touring I got from Baxter's out in Iowa...120mph+ (easy)...several times in fact. Dealer and mech said that they thought this bike came out before the re-tuning...I have no way of knowing except I know I bought a whole bunch of rear tires in 30,000 miles! :p

I don"t have the nerve to go faster than that with a windshield and saddlebags....or even without them .

I've found that deer+motorcycle+100mph calls for more serious scrutiny of my theological belief systems.

I'd sure like to go over 75...I got mine Dyno tune at Power Tripp, and now my engine writes the check that the frame/tuning/suspension/tires can't cash. I mean, I can go zero to 75 in the blink of an eye - pulls REALLY hard - but once I hit 75 or so, the head shake starts, and scares the &%$# out of me. I keep trying different things to enable me to go over 75, but so far nothing works: tires balancing; fork check, with pinch bolt check after drift pin of front axle bolt; tire psi sdjustment; rear shock settings.

Next i'm gonna try totally different tires. Gonna be expensive, but, as I said:

I can't drive....85!

If that doesn't work, I may just trade the darn thing for the 1600 Beemer.
I've about had it.:(

Now there's an excellent idea. You'll **** sure be able to top 85 on that thing.

From everything I've read I think the GT is actually a better choice than the GTL. Sharper handling, a bit less weight, and its cheaper.

My rocket is not the new tour version or a roadster it is the 07 tour version but I have had mine between 137 and 140 miles per hour. On the interstate, HELL I pull a trailer at 90 and I have the 5 inch extended windshield. I just love to see the looks on people's faces on their big Harleys when me and the better half passing them pulling a trailer it makes you all tingly inside :D

I have had my Touring up to 90 mph on the M5 over here (NI) with two up, the taller screen, a massive top box capable of holding two full size Nolan 103's and still fit my leather jacket with a few other things in :D
And it still feels like there's more left in her
Chickened out just in case Mr Chips was about ;)
She is 2011 model
