To bike or not to bike, this is the question

Been having a similar dilema myself. Im riding 75klms a day to work and back, half the trips in heavy slow moving traffic. Thought a 2nd bike , more commuter friendly bike would be the answer. I've test ridden new and older model Speed Triples ,a 1050 Tiger and even considered buying a new Scrambler. Mates got a 1998 Thunderbird Sport for sale but... i know when i went downstairs in the morning i'd want to ride my Rocket. I know the 2nd bike would just sit there.

The Diavel is expensive but somewhat of a bargain compaired to other bikes, including other Ducs, over here. Only big cruiser that would be cheaper (new) is perhaps an M109/C109.

Know what you mean TC. Something like an Enfield might be fine for traffic but the Rocket is still supreme even when it's conjested because it can get you to any point on the road pretty much as quickly as you want it to. Then of course there's the attention it gets everywhere. Hard to see me picking any 2nd bike over it so I may as well save my $$. Besides, Amanda has her Virago now if I get stuck - and I mean REALLY REALLY stuck.:eek:

For some reason the diavel is now the screen saver on my computer . This is only gonna end in devorce if I keep looking at this bike lol

I just got my Trophy 1200 back on the road. It throws alot of heat on the rider.. ugh.. but will be great for a Winter bike this year, and will help keep miles off my Rocket.. :) If I ever get my Rocket going that is.. lol. It's headed to the dealer next weekend.. :) Crossing my fingers this time..

Hey Cap'n Jack
Good friend of mine has a VFR 1200 F and iv'e ridden it quite a few times..it's comfortable and fast..he's had heated grips fitted and a center stand..i know their lots
of money new..but there seems to be a few low mileage year old or so ones about for
sensible money and i'm pretty sure they have a 3yr warranty..nice bike jack

So it seems there is no definitive answer, many are minded like myself & see the other bike as not being used, this is my biggest problem (excluding wife & bank manager that is)if I bought one & didn't use it I would feel bad, & if I did use it would I be wishing I'd taken the Rocket out, & if I enjoyed riding the 2nd bike would I then think less of the Rocket. I shall plod on regardless & consider all possibilities.Still nice to know I'm not alone out there.:)

choices...

There are many intriguing bikes available. The Rocket is triple cool, but so are many others. Fabulously wealthy types like Leno have a different bike to ride twice a day, 365 days per year: Nirvana! We of lesser means must do with more modest aspirations...say...two or three scoots max. Choose well my friend, that Diavel is every bit the equal of your R3 and then some! The awesome V-Max is second to none as well. The BMW R1000SS has my attention for sure and even the matchless Hayabusa is under consideration...for me at least. The aftermarket goodies for the Max and the 'Busa staggers the imagination and buggers the wallet:eek: A whole new universe to explore!!!!

Two more years and we're outta this city for good. Off to our desert retreat in New Mexico and a much welcome and eagerly anticipated thinning of the surrounding human herd. My R3 and VTX will be placed in the hands of our two fine sons. I'll want something new. Hell, might even downshift a bit and buy a V-Rod Muscle. At the end of the day, it's all good.

The bank manager rules,
so,
ultimately it your choice.
You already have the biggest, baddest boy on the block.
A Triumph scrambler would eliviate the need for something different
on the cheap (relatively speaking)...
