Time for a new rear tire, car tire or bike tire ?

I wouldn't put a car tire on a bike any more than I would put a bike tire on a car. There's a reason they're not square. How do you turn a motorcycle? By leaning. What happens when you lean? Question answers itself.

The best rear meats for a stock rim are The B'stone Exedra Max, Avon's Cobra and the OEM Metzeler, in that order, IMHO. The B'stone is about 1/2" taller than the stock sized tire, which actually provides a slight improvement the bikes geometry and it is a higher endurance tire than the others, so it should give you some additional miles vs. the others.

Will the extra 1/2" affect the ABS at all? Will the bike rest 1/2" taller or how much taller? I barely can touch both heels to the ground at the same time with a 30" inseam and a modified seat. THANKS

The 1/2" doesn't mess with the ABS, and actually only raises the bike 1/4" in the rear. You won't regret the upgrade.

Today i spied another sharp bit of metal hanging out between the tread on my rear tire , removed and plugged, thats now 2 plugs in that tire , really need this tire to last another 5-6 weeks , that way i can have the new one put on just before RDU

What do you use to plug holes? If there is no leak yet how well do you trust the plug? I've had almost 1 tire screwed per year for the last 4 years... :(

Im still on my 1st set of tires after 10000klm , i have carefully thought it through as to which way i will go once i need to replace at least the rear in the next 5-6000 klm. The car tire has the attraction of being cheaper and lasting longer and i also spend a good deal of time riding in the verge to get around traffic jams on my 100klm each way trudge to work , so far i have had one puncture and i assume the softness of bike tires lends itself to easily being punctured by all manner of crud that gets thrown onto the verge , so the car tires resillence to punctures is a plus.
What isnt a plus to me is the news that Triumph will void my warranty on a 2 1/2 mth old bike for having a car tire on and my insurace would be equal to ***all if i get involved in an accident, so at the end of the day i think i'll stick with the bike tire and try one of the aformentioned brands to see how long they last :)

Try this out http://www.ride-on.com/
I've been running it in my Excedra Max rear for a couple thousand miles and seems to work great

Thanks Steel, I should get the "radial" version right? (not even sure if both options are available...)
