Hi,

Just found the one in town, 2014 Roadster with 7200 miles for $12000 (out the door) at a dealer.

I test rode it and everything seems to be fine. Per this dealer, if I buy it from them, I will get 2 year unlimited mile warranty which I thought is good deal to have. But $12K ($11K + sales tax + doc/license fee) is pretty high for the used one, I thought but not really sure if this is a good deal or not.
As for the brand new one, they sell for $16K, out the door. I wonder what price level people are getting for brand new one and used one.

Your input appreciated! Have a nice ride over the weekend!

Thanks!

I got my '14 Roadster brand new in Feb '15 for $14,600 out the door with $600 in Triumph cash. I don't think you should be paying more than $10k otd.

A '12 Roadster with just over 1,000 miles was selling here for $7,000 recently.
For Sale - 2012 Triumph Rocket 3 North Dakota $7,000.00

A '15 Roadster X was on ebay recently for $10k.

There are lots of better deals to be had so you can save your cash for upgrades!

Thanks for super fast reply!

I thought the 2 year factory warranty starting the day I purchase is good to have. I've never owned Triumph before but the quality of the bike is no issue for several years from built year?
This is 2 year old bike.
I will see if I can negotiate. Less than $10K/OTD certainly helps my budget issue. Rocket X is actually the one I want! Nobody is selling online at this point...

Check the "for sale" in the Classifieds on this site. WinRocket is advertising a 2014 red striped Rocket Roadster for only $9250. It looks like new in the pictures!

My 13 Roadster 9K miles, new tires a fresh service and several aftermarket goodies was well under $10K

Keep looking and remember if they take your first offer it was to high.

I paid 15 k out the door (12.5k + tax) for my 2014 roadster in 2015 with 4000 km on it.

Before you think I am supporting your price remember I am in Canada and prices here are way higher than in the USA.

Thanks, guys.

So Kelly Blue Book says on 2014 Roadster with 7200-ish miles:
Suggested Retail: $11,150 / Excellent Condition
Trade-In Value: $7,930 / Good Condition

NADA Guide says:
Average Retail: $11,060
Low Retail: $8,405

Again this bike sells for $11K + sales tax + doc/license = $12K (This will include 2 yr new factory warranty)
$10,999 should be the price including the some cushion for the discount. Hopefully they will negotiate down to below $10K! Will see...

If they don't go down below $10K, I would wait until another used deal comes up.

One question, when people buy a bike out of state via online (ebay, others), do they usually have the bike shipped to you? Must be quite expensive!

You know they only paid low book on it, if that. I'd say you have a lot of room to negotiate. 10k out the door would seem like a fair price to me.

First off, don't go by the guides. They're good for high-volume items like cars, but not for small production runs like Rockets.

Second, you're not being offered a 2 year factory warranty. You're probably being offered a 2 year aftermarket full warranty (at a dealer markup, incorporated into your otd price) which you could always buy on your own, probably for less money.

You might want to consider an older bike (2010+ has ABS) and have the engine rebuilt by Carpenter Racing with some high performance goodies. That way you'll have a mostly fresh engine probably with more power than you can handle, and still come in under what you're looking at spending.

Shipping can be $500 to $1,500, depending on where you live in the U.S. (you should put this in your description) relative to where you purchase the bike, and can be a headache. Depending on your comfort level, you could always buy a one-way ticket and fly out to purchase the bike and ride it home.

This is what I would do. Turn it into an adventure.

If the bike turns out to be not what you expected you are out a lot less cash.
