The oil leak a few of you have mention got me. I took the Rocket in for trade today on the Speed Twin 900. Service found the Rocket is leaking. I am 7 weeks past warrantee, dealer is asking Triumph to cover the repair. The bad new is, for anyone who gets this leak the repair is $2700-$3000. The engine must come out of the bike!!
To leave with the Speed Twin I had to give them $3000 in case Triumph says no. I would have had to repair it anyway.
Seeing that others have had this defect there should have been a recall by now.
The R3 was my 6th Triumph since 1999, I assume they may do a loyal customer right, I hope!
If not an oil leak on a motorcycle is considered a safety issue. Safety issues must be repaired by the Triumph even is the warrantee is expired. I'll know in 5 business days.

Unless you have some different issue, the leak the rest of us have had may seem to come from the crankcase, but actually just comes from the gear position sensor and costs a few dollars in parts and under an hour in actual labor.

That’s the only one I’ve ever heard about. Where did they say it’s coming from?

My leak isn't coming from a sensor. It seems to be coming from behind the rear of the air intake box close to where the dipstick enters the engine. If you look at my post someone posted a pic showing a cover with 5 or 6 8mm studs that may not have been torqued at the factory. Mine is going to the dealer end of May to be looked at

Can you direct me to that picture please.

Sorry man the pic was possibly on Facebook. Hope will work. My leak doesn't look bad because I had cleaned the bike but it's more to show you the location

If it's a factory defect Triumph has been very good at covering those past warranty. They had the reversed output bearing repairs covered sometimes up to 5 years past warranty on the old RIII's. Good luck Vector.
