Talk to me about gear

They'd say it was completely different - that in those sports head-to-head impacts are inevitable, severe, unavoidable and repeated, where in motorcycling, falls can be avoided and are not an integral part of the pastime.

Not my view - but I bet it would be theirs.

Falls are avoidable? Nice idea; wish they'd share the secret. I reckon Roger would have appreciated it.

Many years ago the bike I was riding tipped over. I was hardly moving but grabbed the front brake too hard because a child had stepped in front of me. My pants got hooked up on the side stand or peg (not sure which) and I went down. My head whipped onto the corner of a gutter so hard I was almost knocked out. Helmet had a huge ding in it. Yep, the kid shouldn't have stepped out, my pants could have been tighter, I needn't have grabbed so much brake. But it happened.

Amen! Most survived head impact injuries from M/C crashes are from relatively low speed crashes.

+1 on your thoughts. No way I'd ever put a leg over the Beast without a full face helmet - just my way.

Thanks for the input, K>2. That jacket would work for hot weather; but, not for the rest. Here in WA that would mean packing two jackets + raingear.
Since I am not blessed with Florida weather, I am attempting to cover as much of the weather as possible. To obtain this level of protection, the optional rain and thermal inserts are required.
That being the case, I don't think you can go wrong with the Tourmaster. As I said in an earlier post - comes with both the rain liner and thermal liner - no extra charge. I've worn mine down into the high 30's (wind chill) and was satisfied, if not completely "snug as a bug".

I never tried any of the vented jackets but I want to right now I have all Triumph leathers to include a totally perferated one with body armor for the summer.

This is a good endorsement, Amigo.
It's a few bucks cheaper than the others as well.
Nowhere around I can find to try these on; so I guess I shall have to go the Revzilla order and free mail return sizing offer route.

I wear the Cortech and it handled the wet 29 degree ride back from Florida pretty well with both inserts in it.

Reading all these posts there is some great choices. I Bought the HJC full face helmet too and love it. It's the only one i found that fit my big head. I got a great deal on a Raptor Jacket from Triumph. it fits like a glove and breaths pretty well when you remove the liner. I found Gerbing makes XXXL gloves for those with big hands. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=gerbing gloves pictures&qpvt=gerbing gloves pictures&FORM=IGRE

Chippawa makes a great rally leather boot that looks sharp and holds up well, mine are ten plus years old.

Cortech GX Sport Air 3 was my second choice. If the Tourmaster is not up to snuff I shall send it back for the Cortech.
Also picked me up a Bell Mag 9 at a Honda dealership. Shall see how that Sena Bluetooth works for my GPS.
