Talk to me about gear

My pants may not work for some of you, but I usually wear a pair of 511 pants. These are very sturdy and are all I wear when working in the Middle East. They have a pocket in the knee where you can add a pad if you desire. As a testament to their toughness, I was wearing the exact same pair on both of my get offs that were two years apart without any skin abrasions or material tears/cuffs. I bought that pair in 2006, spent 15 months in the Middle East, crashed Aug 2009 and again in Aug 2011. I’m sold on them as all around great pants and useful with all the pockets they have as well.

Just took a peek at their web site. Looks like a good alternative. I'm going to get a pair and try them out.

Yeah but, you're a high brow Doc. Me, being an old fat former bad-ass, would feel gay wearing (how do you spell) khakis!
Seriously, thanks for the links, Amigo.
PS: Ordered me a pair of the black maternity Jeans.

I wear em because they are a lighter color & absorb less heat, not because they are stylish (they really aren't)....but I understand.

You want to look like your normal denim-clad self (but a little more abrasion protection couldn't hurt)...

Whereas, I really don't care if my pants are khaki as long as they're a little cooler...(in a temperature way)

So I don't think that I'm a "high brow"...I just dress dorky.

HEH HEH HEH
High brow as in much edjumacated = smart enough not to give rip about fashion = Dorky!
Is your pocket protector khakai or plaid?

I don't even know what a pocket protector is? But I wear bicycle shorts with chamois padding....they are comfy on long rides under kevlar jeans or riding pants and in case of a "shart" it "protects" you (or at least your pants!)

I am checking with our guy who sets up our tracking data for SPOT. He had to go back to his company after Quebec City. So I should have an answer by Monday evening when I get back home to Michigan. Probably Tuesday before I respond. Tomorrow is our last riding day, about 200 miles from Val Dor to Temiscaming which is where we started our 3,000 adventure. Short 120 mile day today.

This is the response I got.

As far as tracking data on Spot’s web site. You can retrieve tracking data on the Spot web site at www.findmespot.com for up to the last 30 days. You will need to login into your account and select the “My GPS Locations” tab and then click on the “Set Filter” box and it will give you the option to select “30 days”

Hope this helps,

Rick
